Of course you still will. This isn't the NCAA playoffs where you can lose to scrub teams and still get in because the schedule is so long and there are 64 slots. An NCAA football playoff will have 4 teams or possibly 8 so every game still counts. This would still have the number 1 and 2 teams which will always be a freak occurence in college football as long as teams continue to have an incentive to schedule lightweights in their non-conference schedule. (and that won't change with a playoff) There are so few playoff spots in a potential playoff, that every game still counts and matters. Plus it sets off debates as to what the seeding is for the playoff. And of course, it avoids the dreaded split championship controversy that still plagues the BCS. In fact, the BCS is so watered down today and so much emphasis is given to the coaches/harris polls that it's really just the old system, but slightly repackaged.
Not quite this much, but there would still be hype. The playoff system that most people talk about involves the BCS system still in either a 8 or 4 team playoff. There wouldn't be hype because the game was #1 vs. #2, but because a loss would damage either team's chances to make the top 8(Typically one loss teams).
Any Houston-based BBS posters going out Saturday night to watch the game? It looks like I will be at Champs. Prolly gonna get there by 5:30 PM to get a good table. I think it would be hazardous to my health to watch this one alone in my house.
Crappy school in Oklahoma? I was having trouble getting worked up about this game, but not anymore. I'm really going to enjoy watching Texas pound The Columbus Party Spot into the ground. (I'd call it LSU-North, but that'd be giving too much credit to the football team this year.)
If you are thinking about the Uptown Park Champs, I recommend getting there a little earlier than 5:30. I went there last year to watch the Ohio State game, and it was standing room only 2 hours before kickoff! Fox Sports Grill is a fun place to watch the game too, but again it gets packed early.
I am looking for $450 for the pair of tickets. If you need IDs, I can give them to you for a $20 deposit per ID. Send me an email at mb0506 @ gmail.com
I'm still having a hard time understanding how Ohio State is ranked #1 right now. I know Texas lost VY and a couple of other guys, but I would think they would be ranked higher than damn OSU. Anyway, I am hoping that the Horns absolutely annihilate OSU. Go Horns!!
already seeing OSU folks walking around downtown, decked out in their "scarlet and silver." damn this is gonna be a fun weekend!
I heard those SOB's rented out Stubbs and Sholzs. Is this true??? I'm driving up friday night. Gonna catch the game at Woodrows with the girlfriend and friends.
They didn't rent out Sholz's, at least not on gameday. ESPN Radio is having their block party at Sholz's.
yeah, i knew they rented out stubbs.... glad they didn't rent sholz's, i plan on spending some time there saturday.
You have any more info on that ESPN Radio party?- someone told me Matthew McConaughey was going to be there but I care more about alcohol and food.
