Yes, that could be, but the fact that they are bringing Fox into it, and getting real scientists involved leaves me hopeful. DD
Here's the two new pictures they showed at the press conference. One of the live ones that was near the dead one. I see nothing special here. Close up of the dead bigfoots mouth and tounge sticking out.
This is a joke, just rednecks fooling about and doing redneck things....... I want to believe though...........
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080815/us_nm/bigfoot_dc PALO ALTO, California (Reuters) - Bigfoot remains as elusive as ever. Results from tests on genetic material from alleged remains of one of the mythical half-ape and half-human creatures, made public at a news conference on Friday held after the claimed discovery swept the Internet, failed to prove its existence. Its spread was fueled by a photograph of a hairy heap, bearing a close resemblance to a shaggy full-body gorilla costume, stuffed into a container resembling a refrigerator. One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis. Bigfoot creatures are said to live in the forests of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. An opossum is a marsupial about the size of a house cat. Results of the DNA tests were revealed in an e-mail from Nelson and distributed at the Palo Alto, California, news conference held by Tom Biscardi, host of a weekly online radio show about the Bigfoot. Also present were Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer, the two who say they discovered the Bigfoot corpse while hiking in the woods of northern Georgia. They also are co-owners of a company that offers Bigfoot merchandise. Despite the dubious photo and the commercial interests of the alleged discoverers, the Bigfoot claim drew interest from Australia to Europe and even The New York Times. Biscardi said the DNA samples may not have been taken correctly and may have been contaminated, and that he would proceed with an autopsy of the alleged Bigfoot remains, currently in a freezer at an undisclosed location.
I hope these two jokers who brought this claim forward end up in jail and a court room. Surely, there has to be some law about perpetrating lies like this in the public eye. Granted, this is not as serious as yelling "FIRE!" in a theater where there is no fire but...still...have we not learned anything over the years from all the bogus BS people decide to perpetrate for their own gain? There has to be some repurcussions.
read one of the guys was a police officer, he was on disability leave or something. wonder if he loses his job, if he ever had to testify in court, lawyer just says well you swore to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, but you also said bigfoot was real...
The 3 idiots stated in the press conference that the 3 DNA samples were Human, possum and insuf. but didn't act like that meant anything. Was puzzled by that???
Found this. Bigfoot Hoax Called A 'Scheme To Defraud' A Bigfoot hunting group says it was scammed by two men -- one of whom is a former police officer. By Paul McDougall InformationWeek August 19, 2008 03:59 PM A Bigfoot hunting group that last week set the Internet abuzz with claims it had found the body of one of the legendary creatures now says it was the victim of a hoax. Members of Searching For Bigfoot, Inc. revealed Tuesday that they had paid "an undisclosed sum" to two individuals for the rights to control publicity related to a dead Bigfoot that the duo claimed to have found in the woods of northern Georgia. Searching For Bigfoot now says it was defrauded by the two men -- Ricky Dyer and Mathew Whitton, who is a former police officer. A statement on the group's Web site, SearchingForBigfoot.com, says members Tom Biscardi and Robert Schmalzbach examined the supposed Sasquatch's frozen remains for the first time on Sunday, two days after holding a press conference to announce the find, only to discover it was a fake. "Within the next hour of thaw, a break appeared up near the feet area. ... I observed the foot which looked unnatural, reached in and confirmed it was a rubber foot," wrote Steve Kulls, a self-described "Sasquatch detective" who accompanied Biscardi and Schmalzbach during their examination of the body. Kulls, writing on SearchingForBigfoot.com, said the group later on Sunday attempted to recover their money from Dyer and Whitton, but claimed the two men had already fled a California hotel room where they had been staying. Dyer and Whitton were "complicit in a scheme to defraud," Kulls alleged. "At this time the victim of this series of deceptions, Searching For Bigfoot, Inc., is seeking justice for themselves and for all the people who were deceived by this deception," he added. On Friday, more than 200 people attended a press conference in Palo Alto, California, at which Searching For Bigfoot members announced that they were in possession of a dead Sasquatch. The group, however, conceded at the time that DNA tests performed on the carcass were, at best, inconclusive. Link
