Need to drop the price on those tickets too. Granted, I can buy them, but all those extra fees on top of the ticket prices suck.

    http://www.city-data.com/income/income-Houston-Texas.html

I'm not really sure they're really that outrageous for a city with the population and income level of Houston.
There are about 180K house holds with annual income $100K+ (so let's say $70K after tax). Which means for the top 22% households, 1% of their post-tax income is at least $700.

If we assume ~6000 lower bowl tickets per game (not including box and club), at a average price of ~$270 (assumption based eyeballing seat geek) per ticket, that amounts $1.65MM per game and $68M per year, or about $375 per house. In another words, Les just need the top 1/5 of Houston house holds, on average, to spend ~0.5% of their take home pay on the Rockets and he can expect the lower bowls to be filled. This is even before the corporate and etc. buyers.

I don't think the prices are too high for the city. Now, whether if there's enough demand/real fans (Houston is a football town) of the Rockets, that's another questions all together.

Well I think the games sold out both times ...

In sure the ticketing department has the economics to fully explain their pricing . They are a profit maximizing organization so no complaints from an supply / demand perspective .

It just stings as a diehard fan to see the lower bowl consistently not full and rowdy . Because if I had the means to , I would go to many games .

To me, Houston traffic plays a big part , no doubt . I was a rowdy last year and it was difficult to get to the games at the required time . I can imagine people that want to take their families or have jobs where they can't come straight from work .

The upper bowl is consistently rockin . Hopefully the lower bowl will be too game 5 . There's a lot of pride involved when you see the crowd energize the players , when your city backs up the team . That's just from watching on TV ... Actually going to the game , it's a night and day experience of the crowd is rowdy vs quiet.

Empty seats are probably because many people subscribe to the DaDa mantra "Not one Nickel - not one Dime - you hear me Les!"

Yeah, I was only commenting on fans "can't afford" the games. I do think there's more they can do to make sure the fans are at the game be there at the start. Also, make sure people are rowdy at the lower bowl as well as find ways to get more rowdy fans to the lower.

My "afford" comment was in regards to the promotion not changing the calculus for fans who don't have the discretionary spending to buy tix.

I like the promotion and think it should help get fans into the building earlier and hopefully more energized from being a bit buzzed hahaha.

Average Texans ticket price is $104. Average Rockets ticket price is $67.

Texans have 8 home games w/ 72,000+ seats for 576,000 seats that all get filled, many at scalped gouged prices more than $104 avg.

Rockets have 41 home games at 18,000+ seats for 738,000 where the turn out makes it weird for our team when they actually get to play in front of fans in the 1st quarter of away games.

Rockets can have the 3rd best record, or multi year MVP short list candidate, or get to the WCF and have trouble filling seats.

Texans shamelessly roll out a losing product for 15 years and you have a waitlist for season tickets.

Go to a grocery store like HEB Bunker Hill on a Sunday game day of a sub .500 Texans team and the entire store will be blanketed with Texans gear.

Go to same grocery store on a Sunday game day, playoff game between the top 2 MVP candidates and you won't see a bunch of Rockets gear. If you paid attention and tallied it, it wouldn't be surprising if you saw more Texans gear being casually worn than Rockets fans sporting game day gear.

It's not the product. It's not the price. It's not Comcast Sports Network or ROOT. It's Houston and the people here. And the whole "they're all a bunch of thugs" is still a significant factor here in Houston. I run into that a lot still, even with it being over a decade removed from Malice in the Palace.

Maybe Les approached him with a free hotdog deal.

wish I had time to animate the hotdog to replace the ipad and move in his hand, but this with do. maybe @Jugdish can do the honors.

I applaud the Rockets for their promotion. If I had tickets to the game, it wouldn't be necessary of this to get me there early, but I would definitely be happy to take advantage of the deal.

    This.

I'll be there tomorrow and I've been to lots of games at the TC. The reasonably affordable seats are always totally full. The problem is the seats you see on TV on either sideline are empty. Those seats are not affordable for the common person.

Other city teams have traffic, adjust to playoff times and still have the arenas full at tip off. Yes, the real fans are in seats at tip off. The problem seems to be the lower bowl too many corporate seats that are either hanging in club or having a meal at nice bar/restaurant before getting to the game. At game 2 I really thought there wasn't a sellout because of so many empty seats. Also notice the start prices for game 5 were lower than for game 1, until the tickets began to sell before the last win. Dynamic pricing. Once TC is sold out, the Flashseats should reinstate the bidding.

It was very quick since there was several hundred people lined up to do it. You got 1 shot and if you made it you got an Eric Gordon Autographed poster. You were not allowed to have your phone out I guess because they wanted the line to move quickly. Overall it was still fun to say you got to go on the court and shoot a 3. I was proud I atleast hit rim lol.

People in lower bowls generally don't eat peasant food though.
