Just quoting this because it's funny someone can take things out of context so idiotically.

this was also the reason why the grizzlies didn't take rubio. And make no mistake EVERYBODY knew that Harden was the less riskier option than Thabeet. The grizzlies knew this too. But the grizzlies had absolutely no need for harden when they already had mayo.

Ditto for rubio when the grizzlies had conley. Thabeet was a risk and the grizzlies paid the price. okc would have did the very same thing if they had a shot at thabeet.

blake has to bring some skill with his athleticism.

he get's highlights but is game is still very unpolished and raw

those 2 missed free throws hurt them down the stretch

i don't absolutely know for sure, but the actions suggest that it was likely: they traded to get BJ Mullens in the very same draft. The next year they bought no's pick to get: Cole Aldrich. Two complete busts. I just don't see a scenario that didn't involve them taking thabeet if given the chance.

OKC was in the market for a big man if it made sense, but you have no earthly clue of how Presti evaluated Thabeet, who was a HUGE risk at #2. Aldrich at #11 is not even comparable.

In fact, nobody knows where Thabeet would have been drafted if the Grizzlies hadn't blown it by taking him at #2. There were plenty of doubts about the guy.
