New Jersey barely hangs on for the 104-101 win against Charlotte. Deron goes off for 57 pts, 6 reb, 7 ast, 21-21 FT. Turns out the 57 was a Nets franchise record.
i went to play basketball in the middle of the 2nd quarter and watched the rest of the game after already knowing the outcome. as far as i can tell, the lakers are a really good home team and it was in LA, ron artest outplayed dwade by a wide margin, kobe bryant shot 60% almost exclusively taking jumpers, and pittman and howard played 14 minutes they should never ever play and the heat didn't get blown out. that's probably better than i thought would happen given the above facts. stuff happens. it was funny watching the refs take the dwade hard foul in the ASG a lot worse than kobe ever did. hilarious stats. dwade gets 2 free throws and fouls out of his first game in 3.5 years (with 5 minutes left!) and second game in 7 seasons and kobe shoots more free throws (almost exclusively taking jumpers) than lebron and wade combined and gets called for a solid 0 fouls. the same number as bynum got called for. but i thought something like that might happen (it was the same thing that made wade mad enough to take the foul in the ASG). they should have it out of their system now i would think.
The only guys to take less than 30 shots and score 57+ since 1990: Jordan, Mailman, 'Nique, Reggie. Not bad company.
Surprised the Bobcats PGs aren't minus 40 or somethin in the +/- category, Deron must've raped them on offense.
I'm telling ya folks, watch out for the Nuggets if/when they get healthy. Nice win in San Antonio without Nene or Gallinari. They have the talent, depth and coaching to make a Finals run.
