yea.. i thought they got paid by the length of the chase scenes or by the punch. i liked it though, but i hope they change it up in the next sequel. bond can only be a bottled up, damaged, angry spy for so long until it gets old.

how is it that he takes 30 minutes to beat up a guy sometimes then knocks 4 trained agents out in an elevator in 3 seconds?

Casino Royale= Poker: The Movie. Tell me they didn't spend an hour of the movie (the longest in Bond movie history i might add) playing to people who loved the poker craze.

Now they're just trying to copy The Bourne movies, right down to hiring one of the directors. The only good thing about it is the fast paced hand to hand choreography, aka the light-saber battles. That doesn't make a decent movie. Give the choreographer credit, not Daniel Craig.

Why don't we ever see Judy Dench earn her position? She's always needing to be bailed out. M is empowering now just bc she has a vagina?

I don't feel like modern blockbuster crowds would appreciate real espionage storytelling. It's all boobs and gadgets and MTV fastcuts. We can't even get someone with Connery's charisma to make me want to BE James Bond anymore.

And did anyone feel anything for Bond losing his lady? I didn't even feel like he did. Craig to me reads more Drago than Balboa. They either miscast the lead or they mis-wrote the story for his talents.

Well, hold on a second, there.

The cards thing was in Ian Fleming's book of Casino Royale, it was just a different game (Baccarat instead of Poker).

Count me as one who loves the new approach to Bond and who thinks Craig was a perfect choice for the role. In fact Casino Royale is by far my favorite Bond film and the only one I have on DVD.

Quantum is good. It doesn't reach Casino Royale's greatness, but it is a good companion piece and follow up to it's predecessor. It has more action and is less grounded. The action, specifically in the beginning, is too frantic, close-up and shaky...reminded me of the action scenes in the Bourne Supremacy...I love me a dose of action, but I have to know what is going on; need to have some sense of spatial awareness. In that regard, the "crane" scene in Royale trumps the opening action sequences in Quantum.

The story is a bit convoluted, but, like the previous film, it's more character driven than anything. I like that we still see a raw, reckless Bond; not only that but now it's a broken and scarred Bond.

Definitely a good film...not on the level of Casino Royale...but still easily better than anything Brosnan did.

And the Star Trek trailer was bad ass.

I think Craig is a very good Bond. More believable than Moore, just as tough as Connery. I do think Moore had his moments though, he was able to deliver the corny lines with more comedic effect than all of the Bonds put together but that isn't really saying much. When Craig did the same in Quantum, hardly anyone in the theater laughed.

The problem with QOS was it was too formulaic. Chase, story, fight, chase, story, more story going nowhere, explosions, fights. Nothing really standing out.

I do think the Vespa storyline was brought to a fitting conclusions except:
didn't you want Bond to beat the ever living crap out of Yusef in front of the canadian agent and then kill him instead of just giving him up to M-16?

I think they really have to end the Quantum story in the next one as well. They're big, they're bad, they're everywhere. Ok, I get it. Just find there a$$ and blow them up. Geez.

I came away disappointed. It felt like the story was there for the sole purpose of throwing around as many action scenes as possible. I'll take a movie where the story drives the action, not vice versa.

Just got done watching it. It was a fine film (not much story line), but not as good as Casino Royale.

    Still, I'd recommend it.

It's been two years since I last watched Casino Royale, and I must not have paid enough attention, because when watching Quantum of Solace I was confused most of the time. Had to go on wikipedia afterward to get most of the references to Casino Royale in the movie.

    Decent movie, though.

I thought it sucked hard. It's a 100 minute fight/chase scene. Character development?
The intern who dies? Seriously who cares? The female killa companion... she watched evil men kill her father while she watched. Wow. that's freakin rough I felt so bad for her. I've seen this movie 1000 times named anything else

I thought that sequence with Bond at the opera was killer! The meeting idea was cool, Bond listening into the conversation, then revealing himself to the other Quantum members, the sick pictures he took, then the music that muted out the gun scene at the restaurant. Easily the best scene of the movie.

I thought it was good, i'd watch it again right now if i had the dvd. It's not as nearly casino royale because of the lack of plot, but i was entertained and that's good enough for me. the thing about casino royale is that it's not just the best bond movie of all time, it's a great movie period.

daniel craig continues to be badass however. he's absolutely nailed this role.

Decent movie. I suppose I generally fall into the camp that wanted more plot and more character. The villain was underwhelming, and his fiendish plot seemed simultaneously far-fetched, mundane and trite.

Why is it that an organization that "has people everywhere," including a man that worked for M for 8 years, doesn't know who Bond is until the Americans tell them?

I haven't seen the movie, but I would think that the answer to that question is...

until Casino Royale, bond was not a double-O field operative. I would think that, therefore, he wouldn't be on people's watchlists, or radar-screens, or whatever.

That's interesting because a lot of the complaints I've heard over the new Bond films are that there aren't nearly same number of gadgets/boobs.

Worst bond movie I've ever seen - period. Which is sad because I loved Casino Royale - but this was terrible.

No gadgets at all (how do you have a bond movie with no gadgets?)

Not a very intimidating villan - other than the fact that he had a lot of money, what made him scary?

The big bad plan of the villans was lame (I can only assume they are building it up for the next movie - or at least I hope they are)

Fight scenes were taken straight out of the Bourne movies, but not done as well.

Overall - just bad for a bond movie. It was entertaining at points, but I expect a lot more than this from Bond movies - I hope this isn't the style they will be going with from this point forward.
