I haven't read the books myself, but I've heard that Casino Royale's Bond is closer to the original then the movies.

The new Bond song just... isn't a Bond song. I guess it would be OK if it wasn't for Bond. But it just isn't sophisticated enough. Chris Cornell's song was so much better.
That was really...... terrible. Awful. And I never realized how amazingly unattractive Alicia Keys is. Just...... bleh! Yuk!
Completely disagree. Cornell's song was NOT Bond at all. While this song has it's problems, it get's the feel down a lot better.

Funny you should say that. The original Bond novels are quite dark and the author's (Fleming) inspiration darker still.

There are a few new trailers out and just by looking at them, I think this one will be really, really good. Just from the trailers you can get the feel of the old Bond movies mixed in with the modern style from Casino Royale. I'm really excited for this one.
I was really looking forward to this new Bond film. Casino Royale did such an excellent job of releasing the franchise from its stranglehold of schtick. .... but... ... the schtick has returned. . Methinks this film is going to suck. They should just let Martin Campbell direct all the Bond films from now on. He did a fantastic job on Goldeneye and Casino Royale.
I had no interest in the new Bond movies at first, but positive feedback has got me interested. Do I have to watch anything before I start Casino Royale? Or could I just start from Casino Royale and not miss anything
Why do you think that? From what I've seen the story doesn't revolve around some uber villain trying to take over the world in some fashion, tons of gadgetry and over the top action, but of an emotionally scarred Bond out for revenge. Like Casiono Royale, the story looks character driven and the action looks gritty.
I agree almost completely but the new trailers did hint at a little shtick. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing though, if they can keep it reasonable.
