    "400 years...no effect...
    No effect?
There is obviously no point in further discourse with you.

Personally I haven't put much stock in Kaepernick's protest either way and I think for people argue about whether it's disrespectful to the flag, it isn't, shows how successful the counter narrative about is and how the original message of it is completely lost.

What I personally think is much more important than symbolic protest is what Trump and his campaign actually did in regard to veterans. We need to remember this and keep on hammering this that Trump admitted that his campaign defrauded charities for veterans. That speaks far more about what he thinks of veterans than any symbolic statement.

    https://www.npr.org/2019/11/07/7772...pay-2-million-over-misuse-of-foundation-funds

"A New York judge has ruled that President Trump must pay $2 million in damages to settle claims that the Trump Foundation misused funds. The money will go to a group of charities, and the foundation is in the process of dissolving.

The case is tied to a televised fundraiser for veterans held by Trump in Iowa when he was running for president in January 2016. Trump had said the funds raised would be distributed to charities. But according to court documents, the Trump Foundation improperly used $2.82 million it received from that fundraiser."

I disagree with the way Kaepernick has chosen to gain attention.
I also disagree with all forms of impropriety by anyone in power.

But you are okay with the way this administration has done nothing about a foreign adversary paying militants to kill our troops?

Where did you voice your anger at the administration for allowing this action against our troops to go without any response? Russia isn't being held accountable. Trump has done nothing to help our troops serving in combat, but you've voiced more concern over a person taking a knee on a football field.

If he doesn’t show empathy for people saddened by flag disrespect, you wouldn’t complain about bounty on us serviceman?

but if he does show empathy, then you would complain ?

your complaint about Putin putting a bounty on us servicemen’s is dependent and conditioned upon his empathy ?

    is that correct ?

I was responding to what you wrote and addressing the area where you seemed to not understand the things being discussed and why people are upset and/or doubtful about the sincerity of the outrage.

    Kneeling is better than sitting.

I'm pretty sure raising your fist while an anthem is being played during a medal ceremony was blasphemous too.

We've sanctified our bread and circuses with symbols of nationalism, and we deepened the warrior synergies between sports and military engagement.

Let that settle in for a moment before considering whether what Kap did was outrageous or noteworthy.

this wattafan character is so full of sh*t

Why are y’all taking him seriously? Press him on any issue and he will deflect. It’s a typical Trumper tactic.

I said I value the troops - even if they think a piece of cloth is worth dying for. But while people like you may worship a flag, I believe it's far more important to stand up for our troops by taking action against Russia when they put bounties on their heads and finding it shameful when flag loving GOPers defraud veterans.

    Substance over flag.

You mean troops who fought against the evil post 9/11?
Our troops fight for us - and our country which is represented by our flag.
Paint it any way you like, but you cannot escape these facts.

Painting the flag any way you want is disrespectful to Betsy Ross.

It would be a tragedy indeed if anyone died over fighting for a flag

The first line of the US military oath of service is "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States...". That includes the First Amendment, which covers such actions as burning the flag.
