Probably not redeemable when you start killing people at 10

Yeah we don’t know their financial situations.

You don’t get it as a comfortable conservative , whether of an immigrant of whatever skin color. Working say 65 hours a a well paying professional job that allows you to have paid vacation, healthcare, more flexility with hours, and enough income to put kids in after school programs or summer camps is very different from 65 hrs at low paid work with no benefits.

People tend to act crazy in crowds, and kids especially so. Yeah, I think at least some of the kids who were involved are redeemable. Particularly the younger ones who weren’t the “leaders” of the group.

What happened to a good old fashioned asswhipping? I remember not coming home until the next day at 11 yrs old and my ass was sore for a week. I'd say social media has made issues like this even more prevalent in today's society.

Those kids cursing at the cops have never been whooped in their life. They have never been disciplined. They have no idea what authority is. They have no one in their life that models appropriate behavior. They will likely be very poor students. Sad but true.

Poor communities often use physical punishment towards their children significantly compared to parents in middle class and wealthy suburban neighborhoods.

You do know this right? right?

Stressed out financially constrained parents who work 50+ hours a week will find the quickest most convenient way to shut their kids up and have them fall in line and that's often just slapping them around.

Parents with more time on their hands due to more financial security find more creative and productive ways to discipline their children.

    Sad loss of life.

I wish parenting, schooling and communities were better.

We should hold higher expectations for ourselves and towards others.

There's a difference between punishment and discipline. One is doled out of hate, the other out of love. One is used to temporarily stop an inconvenient or annoying behavior, like shutting up; the other is to correct and teach appropriate behavior, like respecting authority.

And let's be honest, there are no parents involved in the life of that kid. It's just mom. He likely hates his dad. We can be 99% sure of that.

I wish someone could find that out, did they come from a two parent household? What type of environment do they live in? Did drugs, alcohol, and poverty contribute to this is any way?

Getting a beating occasionally isn't a bad thing at least it wasn't for me looking back now. It let me know that I made a major mistake and there are consequences for my actions both good and bad. After a certain age I would get punished by removing access to the computer, tv, etc. like most teens. We were probably lower middle class but I had a decent education, never went hungry, and learned to have a good work ethic.

Makes me sad thinking about it since both my parents have passed on...but they put me on the right road the rest was on me

I did a Google search and found out that the cops were there to serve a warrant investigating a murder suspect in St. Paul, Minnesota. The kids just happened to be there, but it seemed personal to them. Who knows.
