It's not vital to our national defense. And honestly Democrats playing the national security card is about as credible as a pedophile talking about the best interests of children.

I'm not even an Obama supporter, but you cannot be serious here. This is sarcasm right?

As to the issue in this thread, it's pretty shameful of Kyl and many of the GOP. Hopefully, the members who want to pass the treaty will be able to persuade their peers.

    Interesting

Because I want a stronger Start treaty; one that will reduce nukes between two nations, one that will give America a better opportunity to regulate where nuclear material is located, I want to destroy America. You’re not really making any sense Wopper. In fact, I'd say you are a bit emotional and need to get some air.

Nobody on either side wants to see America destroyed, it's such a ridiculously pathetic way of trying to make an argument. I'm not sure if you actually believe the things that you are saying, but if you really do I imagine it's your overly-simplified way of demonizing the other side because you don't have the mental capacity to grasp what really goes on in the world.

Not vital to national defense, really?

Being able to secure nukes which could end up in the hands of terrorists or some crack pot America hating dictator isn't vital to our national defense?

I guess sometimes you must want to play devil's advocate even when there is no logic or reason behind it.

They want to see America destroyed as a great power. That's a fact, Jack. The reason Obama is so popular abroad is that those folks want to see America weakened and they think Obama will do that. So far they have been right.

The idea when making questionable claims is that you provide some evidence.

Obama has killed more terrorists than Bush in Pakistan, deported more illegals than Bush, and is the process of trying to make our nation more safe from nuclear weapons, yet somehow you claim that he's made the nation weaker.

You provide no evidence to back it, and then claim it's a fact that Dems want to see America destroyed.

Arguing just for the sake of arguing doesn't make it very interesting for the side that actually has evidence to back its claims.

This is about nothing more than Obama caving into Russia again while doing nothing about China, Iran, and North Korea. It's a silly distraction.

    more from the trib

The heart of the treaty would commit the two nations to reducing their strategic arsenals to 1,550 warheads. That limit is 74 percent lower than the 1991 START treaty and 30 percent lower than the 2002 Moscow treaty signed by President George W. Bush. Fewer warheads mean fewer chances for accidents. Until the treaty is ratified, the United States will have no rights to inspect the Russian arsenal.

There’s no good reason to delay a ratification vote.

He gets hosed by the Russians on a daily basis and China, NoKo, and Iran consider him a joke.

But I will give him credit for not totally screwing up Af/Pak.

How is allowing the U.S. to inspect Russian nukes caving in?

That seems like the whole concept behind Reagan's "Trust but Verify" slogan. The GOP is trying to keep the U.S. from being able to verify.

Those treaties were signed by Republican presidents. It's completely different now.

No they don't, you just have nothing but pathetic talking points about Democrats destroying America, communism, blah blah blahh...

Maybe people in other countries like Obama because what happens in the US greatly affects what goes on in the rest of the world. Of course, I don't expect you to actually understand this concept.

I couldn't agree more with your assertion that the person you are quoting wants to destroy a great nation.

Not surprised. Did people actually think that the GOP wanted to have a hand in solving the real problems that americans are up against?

And...the reason Obama is popular abroad is because he offered something more than bombs, something more than a foreign policy that can be described as shameful and ungodly.

If Americans feel safe then the GOP is not doing their job.

The Democrats wanted us to fail in Iraq. They trashed not only Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld but General Petraeus as well. They did so with the hope that every body that came home would further their electoral hopes. They told us the surge would not work because they did not want it work.

Finally, the Republicans are agreeable to the treaty provided certain conditions are met. This is not the total rejection that the OP portrayed.
