Great advice Jeff. We've experienced similar issues in the past where the hosting company want to squat on the domain name and keep it hostage....
1) Domain name at GoDaddy.com is 7.95 a year. I would look for them to do that. 2) Hosting generally cost about $100-$120 a year at most...
