I think it should be clear that Harden cannot play with a ball dominant PG. Even when he was on the Thunder they had to stagger his minutes with...
Harden is only a "willing" passer if he gets the ball back. The majority of his PNR with Dwight ends up being Harden taking the shot.
Harden will not work with a ball dominant PG so his choices are limited.
He definitely is, but like you said, he's a FA so they don't want to show their hand yet.
He's the real cornerstone.
And yet it was without Harden that we beat the Clippers in Game 6 in the first place. Dwight has been the most consistent player in the finals....

The complaint on Harden is that he's inconsistent when he's "bored" because we know he can put up amazing performances like this when it matters...
