Dwight Powell, that is.

With Justin Anderson and Dwight Powell, that's two really good young pieces the Mavs can build around. obviously i assumed you meant dwight by the thread title. i was coming here to say why dont they build around someone they draft. seems like that team only cares about FA's.
I don't know about building around them, but those two guys look like they have a chance to make it. A far cry from the days of Rodrigue Beaubois
One issue with the Mavs is that they haven't really gotten anything out of their draft picks for several years straight. It's just not helpful when you don't have at least the occasional cheap young players who step into major rotation roles.
True, which is why I was so surprised when I saw Justin Anderson and Powell play in SL. Anderson in particular was a great get But of course, being the Mavs, they'll also try to re-tread some scrubs (Jeremy Evans)
He's certainly the biggest blatant team cheerleader among local paper beat writers as far as I know. Most beat writers (like Feigen and Dial-Creech at the Chron) are fairly neutral in their writing, or at least maintain the appearance of neutrality. A few are openly hostile to the team (Isola of NYDN being a prominent example). Dwain Price is constantly giving the most team-friendly spin on everything. He couldn't have been more biased in favor of the team if the Mavs were paying him directly.
