I read somewhere that Morey has left it up to this clueless, joke of a coach in McHale to choose his assistants. McHale does not know the ABCD of coaching or his own role for that matter and you expect this pathetic hack of a coach to have the ability to choose an asistant. What a farce!
Yep, I agree with you on this. It is rare that it works. Rick was trying to take the throne here and Iook how he ended up in Minnesota.
HA.... Never thought I would see this thread back since the LOF's have all left like rats in a flood... T_Man
Now Lin is off the scene, fans finally will see the true color of McHale without the most hated scapegoat.
Really...? McHale's coaching has been so flawless that LOF's had to be the only reason you'd see a thread like this...?
You know that thread existed long before Jeremy Lin came here, right? The LOFHs are so annoying these days as they have nothing to troll on.
Yeah, Bro! All the true fans hate the coach of the Rockets! All the haters actually support the coach omg omg. It's so weird how haters can like, and true fans can b**** every single day. Life is deep, Man. . . .
McHale was given the best SG, then the best center the very next year. What did he give us in return? Two first round exit!
If you actually expected us to get out of the first round against OKC, then you should take a deep look in the mirror.
Ok fine, but what about last year? I mean we picked up a few more wins in regular season but it didn't mean crap came the playoffs. Maybe you're one of those people who thinks coaching doesn't really matter all that much, but I disagree. Look at Del Harris, he is example of the what can go wrong when you give a coach more talents then he knows what to do with. I remember what McHale did as a GM of the Wolves, and I'll be dammed if I say nothing and witness this clown ruin the Roxs too.
No, I didn't expect them to beat OKC(although it was possible once Westbrook went down). What I DID expect them to do was finish the regular season strong and not p-ss away the 6th seed which was right there for the taking. That would've meant a first round matchup with the Nuggets who were a much easier opponent(and did in fact lose in 6 games to the 6th seeded Warriors). And let's not forget the Rockets also collapsed down the stretch in 2012 which cost them a playoff spot that they at one point had a 96% chance of securing. They also collapsed at the end of this past season and barely held onto the 4th seed. When it happens 3 years in a row, something's not right with the coaching. So basically you're conceding he doesn't have what it takes as a head coach and needs quality assistants to cover up for his deficiencies? Also, who are we going to bring in? It's a month til training camp. You'd think Morey would've settled on one or two coaches by now.
We may be well past the point where solid coaches and assistant coaches are available. Here's a quick list of potential coaches/assistants that are now off the market... -Lionel Hollins -SVG -Ettore Messina -David Blatt -Quin Snyder -Steve Kerr -Byron Scott -Kurt Rambis -Alvin Gentry In other words, at this point the pickings are pretty darn slim. Who's really left at this point? George Karl JVG (good luck getting him) Mark Jackson Fred Hoiberg (not going anywhere) Coach K (not going anywhere) Mike Brown Mike D'Antoni Keith Smart Dunno about all of you, but I'm not particularly optimistic about what's left out there right now -- the better guys aren't going anywhere and I find it hard to imagine most of them taking an assistant role. Not to mention it's pretty late in the game. With training camp mere weeks away, I just don't sense any serious movement in terms of the Houston coaching staff.
The response was in relation to blaming McHale for losing that series. I actually thought that was the one series that he coached well in, and at times, out-coached Brooks. I'm fine with talking about his deficiencies, but will not get involved in using far-fetched scenarios to push the agenda for his departure.
