Definitely an awesome fanbase, but I wouldn't simplify that comparison so easily. Toronto is a completely different city than Houston. Urban density vs urban sprawl. Most of those folks probably already lived/worked near the arena. It just made sense to be there.
Well said! Would have loved to see him back here, but I have no problem with his choice. I couldn't be happier for him, he's definitely a stand up guy. Who says we're not?
Finally. I think it can only help bball grow even more in Canada if a generation of kids (who are probably like 7 now) get to watch their hometown not only play in the playoffs, but possibly do well and have an established core for another 5 years
I have a ton of respect for Kyle Lowry. He had a plan in free agency, mulled offers from the teams he considered a possibility, and made a swift decision. Classy player, fantastic baller, and someone I'll always cheer on.
It is hard to say for sure but I personally think so. Warning! Personal Speculation Incoming ------------------------------------------------ http://instagram.com/p/p-R1tel3jc/ There is absolutely no reason for Lowry to mention the bolded part under normal circumstances. Anyone looking at that jersey would think about Vince Carter. Considering he wanted money and cared about playing for a championship contender, it would have made more sense for him to actually wait a few more days until Melo makes his decision or Houston acquires Love/Bosh someone else. I think this is Lowry telling Morey that he won't come back to a place that traded him for a pick after seeing how Rockets FO treat their players. ------------------------------------------- Speculation Over
Very happy for Kyle. It's really a good decision because Toronto really embraced him and helped him become a leader. Kyle really benefits from a stable and supportive environment. On the other hand, Houston just seems like a revolving door for PGs. Sure, Houston gives him a better chance to chase the ring, but as an employee, you can't argue that it really sucks to feel that you won't have much job security. If he had chosen to return to Houston, he'd very likely get dumped again in a year or two.
Great to be the leader with additional player option! Lowry made the best choice. I don't think he will have the same opportunity at Rockets to develop and excel. With their core, Raptors may have a chance to ECF next year.
