Yeah both most people on this site easily blame the Harden and Dwight but if anyone is to blame is Omer Asik for not buying in. That affects the team on a larger note. Lin I expect him to be hurt because when things really count he's always hurt with some random injury.
I agree, but the thing he is he never bought into this,The instant Dwight signed with the Rockets Asik made it known he didn't wanna be here anymore. So he obviously wants to play and be a part of something. If he doesn’t like his role, he’s not helping the team. So hope Morey finds a good deal, which helps the team.
Exactly. Calling him a bench player is misleading, although he's coming off the bench now. He plays his 30 minutes, is a mighty contributor, plays with 1st and 2nd unit, so he's a huge part of the team. He's not really "backing up" Beverley, he's part of the big 4 on the team. Just because he's not played much this month and had a few off games doesn't change that.
I actually don't mind us not trading Asik, on a condition that he's willing to suit up and anchor the middle defensively like he did last season. It goes without saying that a deep bench led by Asik and Lin is crucial to our success this year. I don't know if anyone had mentioned this before, but the Rockets have one of the most rigorous schedules in the league. Most teams on average have maybe 17 or 18 playing back to back, but the Rockets have an astounding 21 back to back games, and probably the most 4 games in 5 nights of sort. This translates to 42 games, which basically makes up half of our season. By comparison, OKC has maybe 11 or 12 back to back, and for an already young team, that's a huge advantage especially come playoff times. This is David Stern at his best trying to sabotage the Rockets even as the man is on his way out. Guess we really couldn't ask for a better parting gift from him
Can't understand coach. Put DMo into the game of the bench for 15+ minutes and give him all the balls in the post. He must produce since he hits them over 50% and have eagle eye to pass. Casspi is such a garbage tho. And he keep getting those minutes for nothing.
This is unfair; near the end of the season when we were like 7th seed every game counted and Lin was there.
I have a problem with people saying things like this. None of us really know the extent of the injuries. All you are doing at this point is just guessing at the severity of the injury. There is nothing to "man up" about this. It is his body and his body is what makes him a pro athlete. To come back earlier than when he feels is ready would be incredibly reckless on his part, especially when injuries are directly tied to future compensation.
The bench has struggled all month, IMO, & it has a lot to do with Lin/Asik being out. Once these guys get back into the line up it will be a whole new Rockets bench. On offense you will have someone who can drive and create his own shots which will draw the D and kick out to one of our 3 point shooters. We just don't have that coming off our bench right now. On defense you will have a big body clogging the middle that can block shots and make teams settle for the outside shot. Not only that but actually get defense rebounds. This will totally change the second unit and the way they perform, IMO of course.
It's all about expectations. Lin's are still sky high. He started his career as a hero, and everyone wants him to be one 24/7 (even after sending him to the bench and saying how much he sucks). Everything he does is scrutinized. Everything that happens to him is dissected and exaggerated. It's just what he brings out in people. Linsanity makes people linsane.
We should just force Asik to play and if he wants to mail it in, then great, he drops his own value. The guy only helps himself by playing hard and showing he can be a starting C in the league.
The Houston Kings bench is without a doubt weak. Atrocious defense and when their so called magical 3's aren't falling, they're complete garbage. A so called PF that can't box out, a SG that can't hit open shots, and a PG that can never fight over a damn screen to save his life. Yeh weak.
I always say, id rather be a hs been than a never was. The rockets need a has been on the bench. Brooks is kinda a has been, casspi, garcia, and lin are never was type players.
