So you want them to pay a premium for the sake of doing something? I don't particularly care if they win 60 games or 70 games next year. If Crane legitimately just holds on for now and with real plans to spend 3 years down the line, once our prospects hit the big leagues (and hopefully are panning out), that's fine by me. We won't know the answer for a couple of years. But I don't see the point in getting worked up over losing a bidding war on a 1-year reclamation project.

So far today: Ely released, J.D. Martinez out righted to Triple-A, Jake Elmore claimed by White Sox, Astros claim Ryan Jackson from STL. 40-man roster at 34
It does get repetitive but the fact remains he knows those prospects better than random Joe prospect waived from the marlins or blue jays.

Did the Astros not add Domingo Sanatana or Wojo to the 40-man yesterday? Both would be eligible for rule 5 if not protected. This "complete" list by mltraderumors only lists Jackson as an addition. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/11/full-list-of-yesterdays-40-man-additions.html Maybe they just haven't been announced?
