What other notable players were let go by their teams this past Friday's deadline in order for the player to be eligible for the playoffs?
Always a big fan of AB. Frankly thought the Rockets kind of screwed him around. Injury, contract uncertainty, etc. sort of took him down. I was really upset when they got rid of him. He seems to have never been the same. Le't see what he can do.
I was surprised they got so much for AB when the Rockets traded him. Dragics AND a 1st round pick, and now we get him back!
Brooks is a better STARTER for this team than Lin in the short-term, bottom line. I know everyone's talking about 2nd/3rd string, and I'm sure McHale will be hesitant to give him minutes, but he fits much better with Harden than Lin does right now, and that's all that matters as far as this team is concerned. I like Lin's future, but Brooks' game is tailor made for playing with Harden, and I readily acknowledge that Lowry and Dragic are both better players than Brooks. Frankly, Lin could learn a lot from Brooks as far as how to how to be good without dominating the ball.
Guys, Aaron Brooks has been one of the worst players in the league this season from an advanced stats standpoint, which is why he is being tossed to the scrap heap by the Kings. But "Little Bit" asks a fair question. My guess is that the reason is because he likes and is familiar with the city of Houston, plus Morey pounced and made him feel wanted. But mostly it's because he's not been any good this season, so no winning team perceives him as an upgrade over its current backup PG. Patrick Beverly has been very good and has a firm grip on the backup PG spot both this season and next season. He is such a bargain at less than $1 mil/year. Do we know who Houston is going to waive? I will be very surprised if it isn't Tyler Honeycutt, who likely does not interest Morey. I expect Terrence Jones and Royce White to finish the season in the developmental league. Brooks is your last resort PG, James Anderson is your last resort SG, Francisco Garcia is yet another shooter, and Tim Ohlbrecht will be around to compete for backup C minutes and to provide a last resort big man if he can't beat out Greg Smith. This is a brilliantly constructed roster and there shouldn't be any more changes to it this season. When the season is over, Brooks and Garcia will be allowed to walk and all team options (Carlos Delfino, Smith, Ohlbrecht, Anderson, Beverly) will be exercised. That leaves two open 2013-14 roster spots that will, in my opinion, be filled by a) the 2013 second round pick received in the Marcus Morris trade and b) a mystery signee, probably someone not currently in the NBA and possibly Sergio Llull. As I've stated previously, the goal here is likely to stick with the core, let them grow together, continue accumulating assets, and maintain cap flexibility so as to be in a position to sign Lebron James in July 2014. Oh, and I completely agree with Nina Thug that Korey does not perceive Brooks as an asset to possibly flip later on. Brooks has zero trade value and isn't going to be on the 2013-14 roster. Nor will a former high performer such as Brooks agree to some measly league minimum team option for next season. Seriously, don't read too much into this move and don't expect it to impact the current nine-man rotation at all.

Even if I grant you your ridiculous claim, it worked for Kenny Smith. Do you think Lin could have done better?
****ing right Blackjack is back. Played blackjack with AB in Nola back during his second season when the rockets where playing the hornets. The game before Carl was shot in the league. If AB can bring his A game he will be a big part of the rotation. Mchail will use two pg lineups to give harden a longer breather leading up into the playoffs. I think we all agree Harden needs to play less minutes and get his knee healthy for the playoffs. This will help! Lin & Brooks backcourts Beverly & Brooks backcourts Should be interesting.
Lin can't do everything else. He is a better rebounder and defender than Brooks but that is about it.
Not a better penetrator. AB could get by his man every time. Nobody stayed in front of brooks when he was here. He didn't always finish but that's not what I'm saying.
the mention of AB reminds me of this play he use to run under adelman in crunchtime lol The Chicken Head Cut Off play http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=164932
"Finishing" and "drawing fouls" are reflected in TS%. Better penetrator is false. I'll give you passer, but the importance of that for this team is up for debate.
