Actually, the best thing to do is time feedings around running errands. Outside of that, when a baby is hungry I would much rather the mother give it what it needs to prevent crying, and if that means whooping out a teet, then so be it.

Those that have a problem with seeing a woman breastfeeding her child in public are most likely, A) single w/out children, or/and B) without hair on their nuts.

 

There are stupid people everywhere. Do you disagree with the notion that everyone's reaction would be different if she were attractive?

We have a two week old. She eats at all kinds of weird hours. We try to plan feedings around going out but can't always do it. We have a nursing blanket when she does it in public. And sits out of plain sight but still in public. Bathrooms are nasty. There really is no debate on this subject. It is legal. End of story. If you want to change that then talk to your representative and keep your mouth shut. If one of you comes up to us while we are in public and say something you will lose an eye.

 

This is just ridiculous. I mean what are they gonna do next? Ban us from public sex?

Breastfeeding shouldn't matter, as long as they make some effort at covering up and the kid is not old enough to walk up to it or ask for it by name.

Easy to say when you're not the one giving birth. Can you imagine not getting to go out or go to the store for several weeks or months? I agree that pumping and taking bottles along would be the best idea, but I'm not going to judge. Taking care of a baby is hard enough. And (this is so unpopular these days that I hate to admit it, but it worked great for us) I bottle fed my kid. I'll respect other people's choices to breast feed if they respect mine not to.

Sounds like a much better and more respectful way to handle this situation.

Many moms breastfeed discreetly in public, covered up and with most people passing by not even aware that they are nursing a baby. Babies, especially younger ones, frequently need to be fed and their feeding schedules can be unpredictable.... making it hard to avoid feeding them at some point during an outing.

Breastfeeding is the best thing for a baby and mother/baby bonding. I think most Americans have at least some respect for this.... while some, like this Hollister manager, need to seriously chill out about women breastfeeding in public.

If you get sexually aroused by a woman breast feeding you have serious issues. The ignorance in this thread is sad. Some people really need to go back to school and get educated on this or get a girlfriend for them to explain what breastfeeding does. In short it gives nutrients to a child and most importantly it passes immunoglobins from the mother to the child because newborns only get their immunity from their mother.

So yes Aceof.... breastfeeding is extremely important for a newborn. And seriously if some of you guys get horny off of a women breast feeding go get some help.

I have seen many woment int he act of breast feeding in public places - restaurants, stores, zoos, etc. Every single one is completely covered up where you don't see anything. So, if you walk up and stare at a woman breast feeding in public, I am not sure what you will be seeing except for a covered up woman.

Not sure what you mean by "there is a time and place for everything". You obviously have never had to worry about feeding an infant.
