Yeah but AB's shot is only off this year because he got hurt, before his injury he was shooting the same as last season. Dragic's shot is off because...?
This is easy. No Amare Stoudemire to open him up for easy wide open shots. You see superstars who use their own skill like Nash can shoot without Amare there and not be effected. However spot up shooters who need post up players, double teams on other players, or a good offense to get him open specifically.... Thats another matter. These guys suffer when superstars leave in their shooting percentages. I expect his shooting percentages to go back up in the Rocket offense that doesn't need a superstar to get players open. Of which also has its own few scorers to key on to leave Goran open enough.
Amare has little to do with Dragic struggling this year....the PHX bench has been in flux all season and he has had issues playing with them this season. Since joining the Rockets he has been great.
They have different skill sets but similar styles of play. Excitied to see what Goran can do for the Rockets.
I see Steve Francis level turnover rates in this Dragic. Much worse than Brooks. But we need a capable backup who'd accept his backup role, as much as needing adequate skills at the position.
Since joining the Rockets he has played well, what makes you think he is going ot have a worse turnover rate than AB0?
I could care less how Brooks' fans feeling. I fully expect Dragic to abuse Brooks when they are both on the court.
Yup. Adelman to Dragic before he puts him in the game: "This guy doesn't play a lick of D, you have the green light to abuse him."
Wrong. Morey likes these two as they are ACTUAL point guards. That's why he got rid of Alston, Brooks, head, james and Jackson. They were all pg's on the stat sheet but not on the floor. Lowry and Dragic are floor generals who can set up their peers well and as you said can be agressive. DM likes them for their pg qualities not their AB features (driving, wreckless aggression, etc)
But did Bobby ever score 24 points in a 4th quarter like Dragic pulled on Spurs in game 7 of playoffs last year? I actually watched that game live and Goran's performance was utterly impressive, he basically beat the Spurs single handedly, Steve Nash didn't even get to play in the 4th
Alston's one big problem was his 2pt shooting-- he couldn't finish around the basket and isn't very good at the pull-up midrange J. Otherwise, he actually shot a reasonable % on thie 3s most years, pushes the ball up the court (though there was no one running the fast break with him-- McGrady particularly doesn't run much, runs the offense, and defends. Dragic's number in PHX doesn't look good, but he seems to be a better finisher and shooter than Rafer from the few games he played for the Rockets. Small sample size, though.
He played well and showed improvement last year shooting 45% and 39% from 3 in 80 games, better than Alston or Brooks. Most Suns fans attribute his regression this year to lineup instability. In fact the reaction to the trade is almost night and day compared to here. Most of them wanted to cry like Heat players after a bad loss. Though they are enjoying Brooks now that he has had a few good shooting games. I would compare Dragic to our Landry as far as fan appreciation in Phoenix.
