Realistically speaking, our chances are low but it's possible to surprise them.

    Loss.

I'm sure Portland remembers the beating we gave them in the playoffs. It's payback time on the weakened Rockets :(

Doubtful. Those crazy dudes (see above) who are amped up predicting 45 point wins tonight will probably be the same ones ranting after the game if the Rockets lose.

And in a related issue, I think Clutch forgot something in the over/under thread:

    11. There will be [over/under] 21908983.5 "Let's tank the season for an inknown commodity! Not smart!" references in the GARM this season.

I'm a little worried about Roy, but I think a steady dose of strong defense from Battier and Ariza can keep him in check. We really need to watch out for Aldridge in this game though. Chuck will be trying to handle Oden & Pryzbilla, so he probably won't be available to frustrate Aldridge as much. Landry and Scola should have their hands full.

I still predict a win for the good guys though - 94 to 87.

Oh, it'll be scrappy. And rusty. And definitely a loss (for one side or the other :D ). Portland's tough to beat at their home. And even though we did it last year, we have way too many new elements to be quite as cohesive as they're going to be tonight. They have height and we have speed, and one team will win because of it.

I predict the following for this game:

    1) One of the announcers will say 'playoff atmosphere' by the end of the broadcast.

    2) Trevor will shoot less than 35% FG and will have 3+ turnovers.

    3) Chuck Hayes and Shane Battier will each draw at least one charge.

    4) Chuck Hayes will stop much of what Portland will try to do offensively in the first half. He'll be the key to our defense then.

    5) Aaron and Aldridge will each score 20+ points.

    6) Houston will wear Portland down in the 4th quarter by running all game.

    7) Rockets win by 6.

Finally the season starts. I can't wait and unlike the doom and gloom club that is on the bbs, the Rockets will win tonight. The Blazers will not be running on all cylinders at the start of the season either and team play will be the key tonight. GO ROCKETS!!!

I don't think we're going to get this one, but I think we'll put up a hell of a fight. I'm excited to see where we are. Let's go Rockets!

They have a chip on their shoulder from loosing. Expect them to win at all costs, especially when we have no Yao, T-mac, or Artest. They would be really embarrassed.
