No, IMO the Astros need to get younger and draft and develop their own players. Would you trade Oswalt for the proposed package that the White Sox put together for Peavy? I wouldn't only because I would have wanted Gordon Beckham included in a package.
The Astros do need to get younger...but Peavy is not the sort of pitcher a franchise happens upon just everyday. If Peavy were an older guy, I'd agree with you. But if you have a chance to get a Jake Peavy for younger talent...and you believe you can keep Peavy around a while....you do it. He becomes the anchor of your staff immediately.
