i think you misunderstood me. i read your earlier post...and agree with you that playing "not" good teams is a factor when you're playing "not good" teams. but as i said..that doesn't explain the titans or the packers game. i'm with you on the titans playcalling, no question. but i still see gigantic improvement on that side of the ball over the past 2 games. they look like a different team. i wasn't giving them credit for shutting down the browns...it's these last 2 games that have caught my attention.
Green Bay - quality? They are 5-9 and have a losing home record. Why does everyone think that Green Bay is good? Now you definitely can't argue about beating Tennessee. Awesome win yesterday! Why can't the Texans play well early in the year? We finished great last year also.
i perceive them to be better than the bengals and browns...teams we beat where the defense looked good. green bay's offense, as i understand it, is a pretty good unit. and the texans made some big plays in key spots against them.
oh, they've definitely improved; i didn't mean to imply otherwise. the defense was likely not as bad as we initially thought (competition)... and probably isn't as good as we probably think it is this morning (again, a big component: competition).
green bay has the NFLs 10th ranked offense and 9th best QB, based on rating. now, the cold may have been a factor - then again, houston ran up 500+ yards, so....
Frankly, if the biggest reason the defense looks so good is the competition just isn't at the same level, then that just keeps Richard Smith on the hotseat all the more. Looking super against weak competition doesn't erase the massive sucktitude from the first half of this season. Even against better teams, they need to at least play competently. No one's asking for a shutout. The article came out yesterday, so yesterday is as good a time as any to pose the question.
This was you, a month ago: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=157200 you know, the texans have never, ever been proactive - in many ways, that's commendable. unless you're posting losing records every year...... assuming they determine smith's earned the lay-off, why not do it tomorrow? i would think a firing would quiet what i'm sure is going to be an angry fan base.
Frankly...anyone should be allowed to talk about anything regarding the team whether it be speculative or not.... Since when did this board become so moderated that we can't talk or speculate about off-season moves? Granted the season isn't over, but we can start looking to next year and the playoffs... this discussion is more than warranted as Richard Smith sucks.
i'm certainly not immune to frustration and knee-jerk - though i try to balance that as much as possible; i simply thought it was inappropriate coming on the heels of their performance yesterday, and continues a year-long trend of "let's replace so-so with so-so", further evidence people lack patience. this is the best stretch of texan football in their history; i'd like to see more people enjoy it rather than wallow in the few things left to quibble about.
I don't expect fans here to be level headed and non knee jerk. Just look at the Rockets posts after a win or loss. LOL
In this fantasy land of yours, Would they also have rainbows that rain down Skittles and Leprechauns that hand out pots of gold?
Humbug. I'm enjoying this very much, and I can grin ear-to-ear with joy over the first ever 4-game streak, the satisfaction of endangering the t***' home-field advantage, the satisfaction of having beaten the only 1-game loser in the NFL, and at the same time ask, "hey, so-and-so just became available! Could that make next year even better?!" I mean, this year has had a lot of knee-jerk replace Schaub with ______ or Kubiak with _______ and so forth, but this post just doesn't fall in that category. Yep. Yes, you did.
No one keeps articles on hold for a month after they first see it. How would it work, post the thread here just for bookmarking purposes, then revive it after the season is over? Talk of replacements does undercut the current team success a little. But if in some fantasy land during week 14 San Diego is talking of moving Ladanian Tomlinson after the season, no one's gonna wait til week 18 to discuss.
