It is definitely the best BBS on the planet, hands down. That previous post is to no one in particular in this thread. It's just a general attitude that some Members and Contributing Members seem to have. And yes, there's definitely a lot of overreacting going on, but none of it seems to be directed toward the right places...again, like the lack of effort we see from the top down on this team.
What a bunch of condescending bs. You are pretty awesome for being older than me. That means you are more of a fan.
I love it. First of all, great initial post. I completely agree. Then, I love how the next 6 or 7 posts are people doing exactly what the boomboom talked about. Priceless!
Haha, the car hasn't come yet, although i'm sure it might in a second. Guys, I believe true fans have a right to be angry when their favorite team is losing, thats what separates them from gooey eyed little girls who love their favorite boy band groups whether they suck or not. I have been a Rockets fan since birth, but that doesn't mean i should be mad or check them if they do things to deserve it. If only Adelman had that mentality, maybe he would be checking Yao and TMac and benching them when they come in playing with their skirts above their heads. I religiously watched all the games to start the season, now i don't even bother, but check online for the score, there is no more fight left on the rox squad. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, just saying
Apparently, this board thinks the team's success and failure falls on the coach and the coach alone. When we lost against the Jazz, it was, "JVG got outcoached". Now that we're having a slow start, it's, "Adelman can't coach". Is it ever T-Mac's fault? No. is it ever Yao's fault? No. It's all on the coach. Hey guys, ever consider that sometimes our players just get OUTPLAYED? Most of the blame should fall on the players, but no, it's ALWAYS the coach's fault.
Lots of people have given up on the team judging by the, yes, I'll say it again STUPID crap they write (I'm referring to the ridiculous trade scenarios, the idiot wars b/t TMac fans and Yao fans, rehire JVG, etc.). I don't think it's stupid to be frustrated, far from it. However, just because some of us try to stay positive doesn't make us apathetic. I agree with you the effort has been putrid and so has the intensity. BUT that doesn't make me think that we can't turn it around. We have the talent to be better, that's obvious. I hardly think 22 games is enough to judge a coach like RA or even a team for that matter. Like it or not the Rockets ARE adjusting, and will continue to do so for AT LEAST a month. That's why I think we'll be towards the bottom of the playoff seeding until the All-Star break. We're going to be consistently inconsistent until then. As for your last point, you're absolutely right. People get really snotty b/c they think "Oh, I've been here since pre-Yao or 1999 or whatever." Tons of Rockets fans who have been fans for decades only just recently joined the site (myself included). But why do you feel the need to prove your point by talking about you've been coaching/playing ball your whole life? So have I, so have (at least I'd hope) the majority of people that post on here. Being a rookie doesn't make your opinion less valuable, but because you've maybe been around the game longer than others doesn't make that person's opinion less valuable either. Post away. I don't agree with alot of your opinions, but I'm happy to debate with you and others.
Finger pointing again. Most of the posters here are pointing their fingers to some other posters, accuseing them of pointing fingers to the players and the coach. What you are doing is different from them? When you label them as "stupid" or "idiot", how can you justify your such behavior as not stupid or idiot?
Finger-pointing, 'often unfair accusations of blame'. Your analogy fails. It's tough to defend 'stupid' or 'idiot' when the behaviour was printed in black-and-white.

Thanks Blake! That's exactly what I thought when reading through the responses. Pure entertainment! @hermbob...keep posting...please! I like the balance of your posts and level-headedness responses.
yeah for you....anyways this is a board where people are allowed to express their opinions...there is a difference in between being a "bad" team and a team with talent who is "soft"....the ladder is far worst imo.....I've went through some tough times as a pro sports fan also with all the teams that I cheer for, but capable "soft" team is just something that irritates the hell out of me.....
I certainly appreciate the way you make your points, and I agree and disagree with certain parts of it. I never said or didn't mean to imply that apathetic means staying positive either, or vice versa...it's nice to have certain viewpoints to bounce off of each other. And 22 games may not be enough time to judge a coach...but you can certainly figure out what their tendencies are, both by what you see yourself, and what the players themselves are saying. Yao has hinted that they are not prepared, McGrady is questioning the style they're playing and said they have no identity...on and on. The players don't look motivated. They look lost. So yes, they are adjusting...they're adjusting to have a coach that seems like he does nothing. But to me, that's not an excuse to play like you're asleep. And everybody's talking about "when they figure it out" and how the Rockets are going to get hot...but will the trends go the other way at that point, and the Rockets actually will have a gameplan? When they figure out the offense, are they going to stop being lazy or loafing back in transition? Will they stop going for shot fakes or close out properly at that point? Will they have clearly defined roles once they fully learn the offense? And why the arbitrary deadlines for giving them time to "figure it out?" I'm not calling anybody out in particular that posts that kind of stuff, but who's idea was it that right after the new year, or at the all-star break, or whatever dates people keep talking about...that that's when things will start to click? Can we not accelarate the process? Can we not study the film or the playbook? Running an offense isn't rocket science and it shouldn't look this painful this far into the season. So to me, it boils down to two things.... 1. effort, which is on the players 2. defining roles on this team, which is on the coaching staff That pretty much covers all the bases for this team. And lastly, my point about playing/coaching my whole life was probably in poor taste...got a little carried away I guess.
No prob on the last part, I've felt the same way a few times. I absolutely agree with you that we need more and consistent effort and more direction from the coaching staff. I think I use the all-star break as the time when we'll "get it" because it's roughly halfway through the season, so there is still time to "take off," so to speak. Just judging by the way the guys are playing right now, I'd say that the time to adjust is going to take awhile, because we've seen nothing to suggest that's it's going to happen quickly. Of course we should be studying the playbook, watching film, and doing basic fundamentals. I can only assume they are doing the first two simply because every professional franchise does, but it isn't translating on the floor. Do you think that is due to the coach or the players? I'm not sure, maybe a bit of both? Adelman is definitely more laid back than JVG, but it's really tough to know what's going on behind the scenes. Yao and TMac do look unsure of themselves and so does the rest of the team. We have no identity, but I believe our players are too talented to play this poorly on a consistent basis, and Adelman does have a proven system (not championship caliber to this point I'll grant you, but at least a moderately successful one) which I still think will work. In fact it has worked very, very well at times (see Toronto first half, win vs Grizzlies at home...yeah I know it's only the Grizzlies, but we did run the offense). The players just don't seem at ease with it. It's so much easier to try to force feed Yao or give it to McGrady and watch. That's a habit that HAS to change. As far as defense...it's all about effort. We need more of that, no doubt.
Most of the time, I agree that the overreaction on the board is stupid. And there is a ton of it. I can't, however, just sit back and relax because we've had worse times. This team should be a lot better than they're playing as of late, and, what's worse--we're not being out-talented or beaten by better teams. We have looked indifferent and ready to go home in the third quarter too many times for a team that has the talent level that this one has. Will things get better? I hope and pray they do, and I believe they can. Will it be in time to make up ground in this conference? That's where I'm scared.
