Who else here is avoiding the GARM at all costs. That place seriously goes to hell after a loss and its just not fun reading 12398475 threads of how much everyone sucks. I usually stick to the Hangout on days like these. Anyone else?
Normally I stay away from the GARM after a loss...but I've reached my breaking point. Now I'm searching through the threads in that forum finding other angry people, feeding my rage. It's a bit over dramatic, but thinking about this team kinda makes me sick to my stomach. I can't remember the last time I had such high expectations for a team and to be disappointed so much. I'm just pissed and seeing everyone else's b****ing doesn't affect me in the slightest...I'm finally on the same page.
I'm thankfull for a fast scroll button. I only read posts from those who's opinions I respect. And DaDakota rants I may be missing good insights from newer members -- but the cost is too high to find them.
Yeah, me too. I've poked in there the last few days just to see if there are any threads by posters I recognize as knowing what the hell they're talking about. I do this because I'm frustrated as all hell, the Rockets look terrible, and as I said in one thread in there the other day, I can't remember whats its like to be surprised by a Rockets loss to a lesser team. That's been the norm for about 10 years now, and despite coaching and personnel changes, it just doesn't seem to ever change. But yeah: I typically avoid it at all costs.
I've been avoiding it as well. I am assuming it is full of "Trade tmac/yao"/"yao is a wuss/tmac is a choker"/"fire addledbrains" etc etc. Those threads are terrible in the best of times and I shudder to think what tis like in there now.
Can't bear to look at it right now. One funny thing I've noticed...look at the average post count for those that have responded and that spend a majority of time in the Hangout. It's almost like a rite of passage.
I have avoided it since Yao. It used to be a utopia. I actually made my way back there this month to do a little venting in one of the countless anti-(insert X) threads.
You have to be mentally tough to go in there. At this point in my life, I'm just not ready. so yes, I'm avoiding it.
It's not as bad as a lot of people think. Well, today it might be, but you can find lots of good posts if you can scroll past all the odd posts by rookies and 10-year olds trying to build their post counts. I wish there was a way to put all rookies on ignore. Not trying to be pretentious, but it sure would make the GARM easier to read.
I posted a couple of things there a couple of weeks ago and got moronic responses...I've avoided it since and have been foralmost 2 or 3 years now. Way to reactionary.
I can't stand that forum after losses. Between the ridiculous "Trade Yao/Trade T-Mac/Fire Adelman" threads and the horrible posts by 90% of the YOF's and the whole "sky is falling" mentality, I shudder everytime I go there. However, I still go and post there frequently. I just usually wait until around noon the day after losses so that the new members have already made all of their worthless threads. Recently, I have been going into the overreaction threads and looking at the member's join date/post count and see a correlation between newer members and knee-jerk posts/threads. Not saying that new members don't contribute with quality posts, but there really should be some sort of post count minimum before you are allowed to start a thread.
For me it's become about a 10 to 1 ratio GARM to Hangout. I go there for Hilltopper's interview threads, to post any mixes that I make, and to read threads posted by more intelligent and level-headed posters. I post very selectively.
Then you would have rookies trying to quickly build their post counts in order to start threads. (says the guy with over 15K posts...)
I check in on the GARM usually 2 or 3 times a day. However, sometimes it is less than that if I see pure lunacy and idiocy in there. And there have been times, although very rarely, where I have posted something in the GARM and it is usually followed by a long string of posts that have one of the following in it: - misspelled words or people saying "u" for you and stuff like that - "So and So sucks!!!" - and more incoherent babble that physically causes my head to hurt Thank goodness there is the Hangout to escape to.
