I should also add that the Yao/Scola tag team is going to be great to watch. I really think Scola does a great job of being very active around the rim and with time will be proven enough that teams will have to take some pressure off Yao defensively or Scola will burn them (jumpers, beautiful jump hook/footwork, he has it all really). I love Chuck, but he's a bona fide bench player on any other team in the league, and Scola will finally give him the chance to play a role that suits his talents a bit more.

Hayes and BAttier are nails. tough as nails... metal nails, they are the nails of the team. Add Scola to that group and those three guys. tough rusty nails that hold together our dfence.

James, Francis and Bonzi bring some fire that we were missing.
And TMac and Yao are water. Smooth, effortless, calm and dominant.

We've got a nice balance now.

Hayes, Battier, Scola = good at taking charges
Yao= general big 7'6'' 300+lb defensive presence, albeit not super agile
TMac = can just shut you down, esp at end of the game
James, Francis, Bonzi = can bring the mean nasty intensity which we were somewhat lacking last year (if we see flopping against us , I predict we will see it mostly against these players, because of their intensity)

chuck hayes is getting a raw deal because bullard and worrell never talk about him taking charges, it's always scola and battier. I know we all love scola but chuck is by far the better defensive player at the moment, let's give him some love.

scola may end up taking a good portion of chuck's minutes so it's possible he leads him in charges taken.

What are you talking about? You obviously don't know basketball. You can't get a charging call if you are late on a defensive assignment. Charging is a basketball rule.

how about players who keep the opposing player in front of them and drive them into the baseline where your help defense can trap them and create a turnover or get a steal? how about having some balls and hammering the guy who comes flying through your paint and making him think twice before he does it again? How about getting called for defensive foul? Or even flagrant foul?

taking a charge and flopping are manipulations of the game of basketball. if you get hit, then its a foul-if a guy tries to run you down when you are standing still, outside the circle, its a charge.

but trying to get those calls in order to make up for bad defense is lame and nothing to be proud of. its like iso basketball. ya, it works, but makes the game of basketball stagnant and boring.

Making a shot is manipulation of the game of basketball, according to your logic. It makes the game stagnant and boring because they have to restart a possession every time they make a basket. How burdensome!

i love how the main defense of you basketball geniuses is to say "you obviously don't know anything about basketball"

well, i played all through jr high, highschool, and college so i at least know the rules. charging is a valid foul, but it is commonly manipulated. there are a million ways to take a charge, so you saying it is impossible to take a charge when blowing a defensive assignment is just stupid. if you cant stay infront of your man, jumping in front of him, and falling down as soon as contact is made is a flop. my opinion.

and as far as picking up a foul, OOOOOOO! NOT A FOUL! if the opposing team wants to come into the paint, you make them pay for it. simple, lots of players do it, and some of them, even hall of famers!

and the last statement? thats just dumb. really really stupid. sorry, but putting the ball in the basket is the point. playing tickytack fouls, and flopping is what makes the game boring and takes away from the pure athleticism of the game. if any other team was doing it against the rockets, you would complain how lame it was. just cause our guys do it, doesn't mean its all of a sudden cool. i just think its dumb to get all thrilled about drawing fouls.

Hmm, tell me how you can jump in front of a player when you can't stay in front of him? Jumping in front of a player is a way to stay in front of him.
