I like the thinking on this one. Trade for diogue and cook. He's a hard working type of guy that when he playe in golden state was pretty effective.

Same thong they said about the round mound of rebound when he first got in the league. But this guy had an underwhelming year at LSU. H shoulda gone pro after his NCAA performance 2 years ago.

I have seen both Charles Barkley when he was at Auburn and also Glen Davis at LSU. There is no way anyone could have predicted the NBA career that Barkely had. He was WAAAY fat at Auburn (hence the nickname), and frankly, Davis looks like a better player at this point in thier careers. What you don't know, and can't know is if Glenn Davis has the incredible toughness and internal drive of a Charles Barkley, and if he will continue to work hard and develop the way Barkley did.

I'd take a shot on Davis. Here's why, he played last year at Fonde Rec center in the Nike Pro City league and was top five in scoring, which tells you that he can thrive offensively in an up tempo game, likely what Adelman will have us in. We need a big body PF and if he is there at 26, we should take him.

Rockets Appear Willing To Make More Deals Ahead Of Draft?

    20th June, 2007 - 9:29 am

    Houston Chronicle -
The Houston Rockets , who re-acquired guard Mike James for Juwan Howard last week, appear willing to make more trades ahead of next week's NBA Draft, the Houston Chronicle is reporting.

Vassilis Spanoulis already has all but written his own ticket out of town, telling the team recently that he will not participate in the summer league next month. The Rockets apparently are trying to snag one of the Mavericks' three second-round draft picks in exchange for Spanoulis.

The Los Angeles Clippers also appear to be discussing trading forward James Singleton (6-8, 215 pounds) to the Rockets in a deal that would involve John Lucas III.

And the Los Angeles Lakers are contemplating a deal involving guard Luther Head in exchange for power forward Brian Cook.

Dd you read it? I don't think these trades are good for us. I don' wanna see James Singleton cause he would be another player for oour IL list...Head for Cook? Better but I would say No either

I know someone here was high on bringing in Ilyasova

    http://www.journaltimesonline.com/nucleus/index.php?itemid=13900

    BY GERY WOELFEL

In the last two weeks, some of the premier players in Thursday night’s NBA draft have auditioned for the Milwaukee Bucks at their training facility in St. Francis.

The Bucks brass got up-close-and-personal looks at Florida power forward Al Horford, North Carolina power forward Brandan Wright and Ohio State point guard Michael Conley II, among others.

While those aforementioned players certainly showed the Bucks why they are so highly regarded, there was another player working out at the facility who may have upstaged all of those more ballyhooed incoming rookies.

And that was Ersan Ilyasova, the Bucks’ young forward.

Ilyasova, the Bucks’ second-round draft choice two years ago, has made amazing – repeat, amazing – strides with his body during this off-season. Once the possessor of a somewhat scrawny frame, Ilyasova has transformed into the “Incredible Hulk.’’

When the Bucks’ 2006-2007 regular season mercifully ended, the 6-foot-9 Ilyasova weighed only 218 pounds.

    And now?

“I’m 242 pounds,’’ Ilyasova said with a smile.

Ilyasova not only got bigger, he got stronger. He vaguely resembles the player who oft-times found himself pushed around like a paper bag when he battling for position around the basket last season. According to Tim Wilson, the Bucks’ strength and conditioning coach. Ilyasova recently squatted 315 pounds.

Ilyasova seemingly is on a mission to prove that he not only belongs in the NBA but that he can be a highly-successful NBA player. While most of his teammates have gone home for the summer or are on vacation to in some exotic locale, the 20-year-old native of Turkey has spent virtually all of his time in Milwaukee.

“He started working out here on May 7 and he’s probably missed, maybe, two times,’’ Wilson said. “His work ethic is top shelf.’’

His dedication could be rewarded nicely this summer. Ilyasova is a free agent and he’s bound to draw interest from several teams, especially considering how he well he developed last season.

After spending his entire rookie season in the D-League with Tulsa, Ilyasova played in 66 games last season for the Bucks. He started 14 times. He flashed his potential on several occasions, although his best game came against Detroit on March 25 when he scored 21 points.

While NBA teams can’t formally pursue Ilyasova until July 1, the commencement of free agency, several European teams, including some prominent ones, have already expressed an interest in him.

“There are a lot of teams interested: Real Madrid. Moscow. Turkey, ’’ Ilyasova said. “We’ll see. My first choice is the NBA, the Bucks. I like it here.’’

not a bad option...he could be had for under the MLE. he's a PF with range, and obviously has the desire you look for to be a winning player.

my biggest knock on Ilyasova was how frail he is. Which is why I was impressed with how much weight he put on in two months (nearly 25 lbs of muscle).

He seems to be a pretty active player and is lanky which makes him look bigger than 6'9". and he can be had on the cheap since he's pretty unknown.

do you have any other info on this guy?

All I know is when I was in need of some production in fantasy basketball there was a stretch of a couple of weeks that the Bucks let him play some major mins due to injuries. He produced well, but when the top tier guys came back, his mins dropped dramaticly. I was impressed though as he was a unknown to me at the moment. He wouldnt be a starter but would be great as either a back-up or even the 3rd PF on the team. I would welcome him more than Justin Reed on this squad!

I think David Harrison is a RFA, he could be a nice fit. 7'0 250lbs. Rockets should also take a look at Shavlik Randolph from the Sixers. 6'10 215lbs, has some good rebound numbers.

I doubt we're going to find anything through free agency. Ilyasova has upside but won't be able to just come in and assume a starters roll. For the right price he is definitely worth a gamble considering our lack of depth/talent at the position.

As stated before...if you're looking for a starting PF (outside of chuck) then we are going to need to make another deal. That's why tomorrow is going to be exciting! :D

Well, now that some info has come in, we know:

    - We got Mike James for Howard.
    - Wells is staying
    - Artest trade was killed by Peotrie, because he didn't want to help Adelman, although we offered it, and everyone else in PHO and HOU wanted the deal. As much as I hate his head issues, he would have been a great value. I just hope he doens't go cheap to our competition.
    - KG could be going to PHO, making them the team to beat in the West, if they pull it off. We'll have to have someone to at least put up a fight at PF.
    - There seems to be 3 1st round picks for 3m/future 2nd rounder. I hope the Rockets buy one or two. That would be a cheap way to add key talent.
    - I cannot imagine Utah giving us our last piece in AK as our competitor. If he's traded, it'll be to the East. And for that matter, I don't believe any West team, especially playoff teams, will give/trade/facilitate us a starting PF.
    - Lewis told someone HOU isn't ready for him yet, and I don't see how we could afford him. Seattle is looking to rebuild, so they'd want young talent, which we don't have.
    - It doesn't sound like Francis will get bought out. Obviously, if he does, sign him, but you have to assume he's not coming.

So, based on those things, with current data, here's what I wish we do. I think Les is too cheap to buy draft picks, but it's what I WISH he would do:

    1) Obtain another few draft pics. Buy a couple, trade VSpan for one, trade any other players that will bring draft picks, and then trade 2 of those to move up. With those picks, grab a couple PFs, a SG, and PG. This will add depth, and players for the future, once TMac is gone. Crittendon, Law, Young, Fernandez, Belinelli, Almond, McRoberts, Williams, Davis, Green, Sun Yu, etc.

    2) Trade Alston to someone in the NE, who would gain marketing value for his playground legend status, such as NY or NJ. I think Channing Frye could be pried from NY, but not Lee, although we might have to take Jeffries contract. If NJ is keeping their big 3, they might trade Marcus Williams to us.

    3) Since we are not getting Artest, we really should keep Battier for defense.

    4) Trade Head to NO for either Cedric Simmons or Hilton Armstrong.

    5) Sign Amir Johnson with the MLE. Detroit really wants to keep him, but with re-signing Billups, I don't think they could go the whole MLE, and we should. I don't see anyone else out there who we could get for more value with our MLE, even though he is young and untested. He's played with the best at that position, and they have another young guy in front of him.

    That could give us:

    Yao/Frye/(Armstrong)
    Johnson/Hayes/(Simmons)/Williams
    TMac/Snyder/Novak
    Wells/Battier/Almond
    James/VSpan/Law

That would give us athletic players developing at every position, speed and defense to play Adelman's game. I don't think we'd be contenders this year, but maybe next, and I do think we'd get out of the first round and be a lot of fun to watch ... and you never know, if TMac and Yao stay injury free and step up their game, they could.

Wow that is kind of confusing. I dont see us grabbing all of those draft picks. Not going to happen. It would give us a young team, but not really improve it much. We need more of a proven PF.

Im just looking forward to the draft tomorrow. I dont know enough about college basketball to decide but from what clutchfans are saying Glen Davis and Sean Williams is the popular picks. Both look like promising players but i would choose Glend Davis over Sean Williams because he is a proven player.

By the way this is an off the topic question but who would start as pg. Mike James or Rafer Alston?

According to Draft Express's new podcast, there is a rumor that the Rockets are offering the 26th pick to the Indiana Pacers for Ike Diogu. I think that's a great value for us if true. What do you guys think?
