Jonathan Givony claims in their podcast that there is a rumor that the Rockets are talking to the Pacers about exchanging the #26 pick for Ike Diogu. I know draftexpress isn't the most official of sources, but I thought it was interesting (and an exciting possibility) and didn't see it anywhere on the board.

If the mods feel this is more appropriate in one of the many draft threads, feel free! It seemed interesting enough to merit it's own thread to me though.

I would take that. I dont know if they could find much better in the draft, but he is undersized.

It's true he's only 6'8, but he has a monster wingspan and weighs in at 255. I'd be amped on this. We're not going to get anyone who can contribute anywhere near as much as Ike Diogu could at 26.

Are you serious? I thought the whole point of Indiana essentially bolstering the GS Warriors from mediocre to exciting was that they were acquiring Diogu, whom they felt was the centerpiece of the trade?

Either way, I would do this trade. Diogu looks like he's ready to breakout and his "Per 48 minute's" are a fantastic 23 and 13.

Yeah why the hell is everyone we can get undersized. Damn.

Averaged 3.3 rebounds in 13 minutes a game with Indiana this year.

Furthermore, you're trading a top ten pick from two years ago for a near irrelevant late first rounder. The kid's only 23-years-old. I think it's a chance well worth taking.

    Why would Indiana do it?

This is Indiana, they're idiots. Plus, they're pretty loaded in the front court department. Especially after the GS trade. They had O'Neal, Murphy, Foster, Harrison, and Diogu. Even Granger played sometimes at the 4 spot.

There isn't a power forward in this draft that's better than Diogu at where we are. I'd definitely consider this one.

Plus this is Larry Bird here, if he could sabotage his team with that Dunleavy/Murphy trade, why not just solidify the nonsense and trade the one good piece.

    Very good deal if true.

Diogu started slow, but has been impressive of late.

I think there might even be some upside too.

There is no way Indiana pulls this deal, they could probably get a higher pick with a different team....

But I would love to have this guy on the squad if we were so lucky as to get him for the 26....

I would guarantee the trade has more strings, including Luther Head. Indiana would never give him up for just the #26 in the draft. He was the main focal point of that Golden State trade, not Murphy or Dunleavy. It were Head and 26 for Ike Diogu I would consider it, but he is still unproven for sure.

I would give up Luther, Rafer, take on crap for Sura's contract and trade the 26th pick to land Diogu.

It is an interesting idea.He has good rebounding ability, long arms,is a bit short, and a bit slow but not as much as Troy Murphy. He can shoot from the outside too and is a hard worker. If the Rockets get him for the 26th pick, I would like to see them get a good 2nd pick and target a athletic rebounder like McGuire as well.

Well, Givony claims the Pacers are sick and tired of Jamal Tinsley and are trying to move him - but that regardless of whether or not they move him, they want a new point guard. Apparently they like Zabian Dowdell and Taurean Green and if those guys are available at 26 they'll make the move? I don't know. That's what he said.

The only additional reason I can think of is because they have so much salary and his rookie contract is expiring soon?

OK, listened to that podcast. The Rockets-Diogu mention is just past the 10-minute mark.

Basically he says the Pacers are trying to move (dump) Jamaal Tinlsey, and he said "There is some talk that they're talking to the Houston Rockets right now about making a trade sending Ike Diogu to them for the 26th pick." He says if the Rockets don't see someone at 26 that can help them, that would be a good trade for Houston. Says Indiana would in turn look point guard from that pick.

One thing though is he described Diogu as a "throw-in" in the Pacers-Warriors trade, which wasn't true.
