Hola compadres, Since there have been a fair share of date threads in the BBS in the past and seeing how we hadn't had one in over a month, I guess it's my turn to go next and ask you guys for advice! I'm trying to setup a first date with someone who's been a friend of mine for a few months now, so right off the bat we both know each other fairly well. I haven't said anything too dramatic like it's gonna be the best first date ever! (sorry xcamm1) so there's no pressure there. And after looking through previous date and restaurant posts in the past I kinda have some idea of where I want to go with this, so pretty much what I'm interested in is seeing what some of youse consider a nice, fun date to be like. Basically, I know I don't want to go with the Dave and Buster's/Jillian's route since I think it's a little overplayed. I'm looking for a casual restaurant setting (cuisine need not be a huge ordeal but I'm drawing the line at an Eastern Botswanan restaurant) for supper and maybe some kind of fun activity preceding this (mini golf?) in a neighborhood that would be safe enough to conduct a lil stroll afterwards (hope that didn't sound to ghey). Feel free to throw your suggestions around! Gracias.
comedy club... i'm 2 for 2 on that y'all will leave laughing, and she'll remember how fun/funny that night was trust me on this http://www.symfonee.com/Improv/houston/attractions/index.aspx
except i dont know how much you're willing to throw down two tickets- around $60 when u get in there it's a 2 item minimum.....just hope she's still not hungry 4 beers- about $16?
thanks for the replies. even the list of items to throw at brad lidge is i'm sure helpful to someone here. i guess a few things i forgot to mention; neither of us drinks much and i'm looking for some place where we both could talk and not necessarily be part of any kind of an audience. props for the suggestions though...
oh ok. i think you got the right idea then. mini golf is always a good idea... just make sure you mix in the comedy club on the 4th or 5th date.... i just got a job at the mariott in the woodlands...if you need a room i can get one for you for FREE...just email me or something
Damn what a mighty nice gesture. A free room! You must know him. Anyways, I don't know what the big deal with comedy clubs is though. And that mini golf at MarqE is a rip off.
On the comedy club note... The Laff stop has amateur night on Mondays. Its free. Ultimate cheap date. This thread is funny. 7 posts from this someone will bring up a comedy club again even though el toro doesn't approve.
Go to a movie at Angelica downtown- then Sambuca for a drink-appetizer-if the mood is right -take her to the roof of the Magnolia-nice view of downtown. If that sounds too complicated-try Farrago on Gray-then walk around that neighborhood-nice. another route might be - Cafe Express in Uptown park-it's not too hot yet - sit outside then walk around uptown park shopping area.
That's where we spent our first night as a married couple. I hope you'll still be there on the 21st of September when DMB is there and it's the day before my bday.
This might sound odd, but I've been doing something a little different. Basically, a bunch of us get together every Saturday and cook a dinner in Midtown. Then I typically invite 2-3 girls to come by and join us. Works for several reasons: #1: They're more than likely heading to Midtown anyway. #2: We typically head out around 11-12, afterwards. #3: It's cheaper than taking someone out on an actual date. #4: It makes you look fairly original. #5: If more than one shows up, you blow off one.
