He probably reads the BBS and is simply commenting on some of the blind Rockets followers who say that T-Mac is above all from just one game. *shrugs* nothing unusal.

I don't see what he'd be mocking in the GARM. He's gotta be drunk or something.

I believe he is. He's even attacking a poster on this board:

Seeing as how he T-Mac has more than 30 in five games in a row it wouldn't be from just one game. Though tonight was even better than the others.

I seriously think he was drunk. that rant has all the characteristics of a completely drunk and wasted rant on cf.net.

On closer analysis, he definitely seems to be mocking the GARM. All through that page you can see clear jabs at Rafer-haters and JVG-haters as well.

I definitely think he was somewhat drunk while blogging tonight.

I actually found the whole thing absolutely hilarious and typically I don't read his blog unless someone points something specific out in it. I will probably read it from now on though.

He's mocking all of the bandwagoners that post here and on his blog and basically everywhere you go to talk about Rockets basketball.

My thought... He's sick of hearing the "bickering" over who is more important to the team Yao or Tmac, the "complaining" after every single game about Rafer, and the "praising" of players that a week ago you wanted to trade, and the annoying people who bash his work because he does his job and states his opinion.

At least that's how I took it. I mean seriously, have you read some of the comments that people post on his blog every game?

I feel his pain, so much so that I vented twice today! :D

His hyperbole is getting irritating. It's not just that post, but during the entire game and the game before, when I started reading it. It comes off as condescending either way you interpret it.
I did laugh at his comments about Clyde though.

Looking through it again, he has a mock prayer to end it. Didn't someone here on the board posted some "Lord's Prayer" deal before the season started? I am going to go look for it, but does anyone else remember that?

Yeah, he may be annoyed with bandwagon posters. (I know I am at times). But a professional journalist such as Blinebury has no excuse for such a bitter rant.

His entire game blog was sarcastic potshots at certain types of Rocket fans. What a waste. I was mildly offended and annoyed to read that. Why does he even do a blog if he apparently hates it so much?

Why should I waste my time reading the Houston Chronicle when I can read petty garbage like that anytime I want on amateur sports sites? Go back to writing columns, Fran.

I can see where Fran is coming from. I thought these Lakers fans sounded like some posters here:

Keep in mind that this is the first time ANY of those guys - Justice, McLain, Lopez, Feigen, Blinebury - have had to face the public directly because of the Chronicle blogs. They have only witnessed the harsh, short-sighted vitriol of surfers from a distance. No one knew their email addresses. No one posted comments about their stories directly on the net where everyone could see them in real time.

I've heard from a few people that the experience has really changed how they see fans.

We've seen it here for years because we know the net and we've been around the board - those of us who have been here for a while. To me, seeing crazy comments is no different than it was 5 years ago except that there are more people doing it.

But for old school journalists who NEVER saw or heard people react to their stories outside of the occassional letter to the editor, this has got to be a shock to their system.

They all do read the GARM, but like McClain and his comments on radio and on the web, Blinebury's stuff had a LOT to do with the comments he gets on his blog and the emails he receives from fans.

he's obviously drunk and on the special stuff that johnny depp found in mexico. That sarcasm is just a way too over the top. I know it's a blog, but he's throwing punches at extremest and making it sound like all fans are like that.

I don't necessarily think he's taking a shot at the GARM, even if some of the same mentality exists here. Those blog guys (Fran and Feigan) personally approve the comments that get posted on their blog, and they've mentioned on a few posts about these kinds of knee-jerk comments. Could just be the stuff he sees on his site, not necessarily clutchfans, since we've had that kind of stuff here ever since the beginning (well at least since I've been around here).
