Did anyone get the impression this was a serious problem? I can't belive Yao would have played so effectively in the Worlds had his toe been a big issue.
I believe they are just sitting Yao until Monday for precaution. Some of you people are reading too deep into this. They are being cautious. If he plans to come back Monday that's not bad at all.
I think a guy that big is always going to have problems with his feet... The Rox will take care of it and have him ready to go by tipoff.
A day or two is not that bad and besides the regular season for us dones'nt start until Nov. 1. So take it easy guys!!
I think what TMac meant was that he is lighter now than he was in the offseason (when he went up to 240 lbs) but he weighs the same as his normal playing weight of 225-230.

JVG to english translation: "this kid seems clueless to me so far, I'm getting the gimp suit ready for him"
I think you're seriously underestimating the value added that Padgett brings to JVG by simple knowledge of the system, especiall given all his concern about there being too much turnover (which I believe he noted the other day in an interview)- that's how guys like Charlie Ward, Charles Oakley and Clarence WItherspoon got new leases on life here. I think Padgett has the inside track on Jacobsen. Sure, Jacobsen is arguably more versatile, but right now we've got a surplus of SG's and Jacobsen's ability to play SG (in addition to: Wells, McGrady, Snyder, Head, Spanoulis) really doesn't tack on that much more depth. Padgett's ability to play PF (albeit out of position) IMO adds more than Jacobsen at SG due to the weakness at that spot.
Whether they are being cautious or not, Yao's toe is a big concern. You can bet his toes will be stepped on again and again once the season starts and we cannot afford of sitting him a couple of games every time that happens. And if he keeps playing with an injured toe he won't be as effective or even worse he may end up missing a few weeks at some point. Pull it out if that fix the problem once for all! Though I don't know how weird it feels without toenails and whether they will grow back. Does anyone know?
I had my right toenail removed when I was kid (a chalkboard fell on it). It grows back, eventually. For me, the nail is much thicker than it was before. Maybe that would be a good thing for Yao, don't know.
It is pretty much a lock that Padget will make the team (He's been involved in that flash advertisement of Rockets.com). And Matt will probably become our 3rd string center.
