They aren't picketing the soldiers or the person that died. They are picketing the thing that killed them. However, I think it is tasteless to protest at a funeral unless the family wants it done. It is a time for the family to remember the life of a lost loved one, and the focus should be on that, and the politics of it should be saved for a more appropriate time and place.
Personally, I was bemused that it was ultra-right-wingers protesting and not anti-war-liberal-hippies. But then again, my sense of humor is warped, cynical, and jaded.
