I'm really glad, I had a bad feeling about him being here. Now let's concentrate Damon and Mike Finley or Alan Houston!
Solid move. Kinda surprising since we kept hearing Portland and LA. The Wizards seem to have recovered from losing Hughes (and Kwame) nicely. Arenas-Daniels-Butler-Jamison-Haywood with Chucky Atkins, Jarvis Hayes, Jared Jeffries, and Etan Thomas off the bench isn't too bad at all.
Question: So by getting AD the Wiz would be loaded at the guard position w/ Caron Bulter from the Kwame trade. Could the Wiz still back out of that trade? since you cant really sign till Friday?
They have tons of other pieces (Thomas, Hayes, Dixon, Jeffries, etc.) to cash in for a power forward.
Does this mean Gilbert Arenas moves to the off-guard position now? I think they may have Daniels guard opposing two-guards but then run the point on offense. After the Lakers dealt Atkins I figured they were gonna get Daniels for sure to run the point for them, but now they still have no one.
Righto. AD will probably take the two-guards, and they'll continue to run that hybrid guard backcourt. Daniels is like Larry Hughes Jr.
I believe Javies Hayes and Dixon are both FA. I understand that Hayes will be back but it is more than likely now that Dixon will end up in either Seattle, Miami or LAL.
Hayes won't be a FA for a few years. Dixon's a FA but may be back, because Atkins will only be around for one year. Blake is a goner.
I heard an interview on local Cleveland radio today with a guy who is a Knicks beat reporter, and he said Allan Houston is shot. Says the knees are jelly at this point and that he doesn't think he could play even 10-15 minutes a game any more. Also said that whoever signs him will just be throwing money away.
A combo guard. Big guard with point guard skills but not instincts. Plays the passing lanes. Streaky shooter from the outside. Needs to gather his body to make a big two-footed jump before shooting. Prefers the open court. Uses his size well without resorting to banging or backing down other guards. Does all things Larry Hughes does, just not nearly as well.
Kelly, from what you're hearing....is there any truth to the rumor that the moratorium on signing will be pushed back from 7/22 to 8/1 now?
That would suck, horribly. It would provide more opportunity for other teams to get Boozered. Where'd you hear that rumor?
All the reports you've read appear to be true, not that I've done any extensive calling or anything. Barring any last-minute stuff on Wed. morning, it'll be pushed back. Not a strange thing, they did this in 1999 (the summer, not in January) too. Let me qualify this by mentioning that I heard this from someone that was making an educated guess taken from things he'd heard.
Butler and Daniels is a nice recovery for losing Hughes and at the same time removing a mental fagile immature nutcase in Brown.... my guess is Dixon won't stay unless he is given a decent chance to land the strating job from Daniels.... personally i'd love to have him in a rockets uni
Great move by the Wizards. I totally agree with Kelly that Daniels is Larry Hughes Jr. A combo guard that plays good defense and doesnt have a very good outside shot. Seattle now has lost two FAs and a coach and hasnt really added anyone. They are falling. But the team that has to feel this move the most is the Lakers! They were ALL OVER Daniels and now he is gone. Who are the Lakers going to go after now at PG? Daniels seemed like a perfect fit in Phil's system. But the Lakers were only offering TWO years instead of the FIVE Daniels got in Washington. Easy choice. Apparently the Lakers are only offering 2 years to any of the FAs they court to keep cap flexibility in the next two years. That's all well and good, but for now it is killing them.
