To his credit, Thornton appears to have very good court vision and passing ability.

I have my concerns that he won't be able to face NBA competition due to physical shortcomings, but his shooting and passing seem legit.

That’s pretty much where I am on the guy. He has certainly showed us enough in college and summer league to think he has a shot to make it in the NBA. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do this fall.

He does not have the burst that Brunson has forget Brunson. He’s not even shown to be Lowry type.
That’s why I said let’s see him in preseason at least against some actual professional talent because against the summer league competition he looks slow

Aaron Holiday was able to play 14 minutes a game for us last season with the same physical shortcomings and without that passing/playmaking ability, he could only shoot

Aaron Holiday with a high ankle sprain would run circles around Thornton.

He was also really bad at doing any kind of scoring inside the three point line, although he tried (and failed) frequently. Thornton looks like he might be a legit three-level scorer. I am very hopeful that he will be better on both ends than Holiday. If that's the case, he will already be worth the pick

I guess speed helps defense a little but I'll take the trade off in exchange for having more than one offensive tool, and it's not like Holiday was great on defense

My point was that undersized guys can easily carve out roles on teams including our own if they know how to play their role. I also think Thornton's potential to run a second team offense was something we sorely missed off the bench last year. I think he'll get DNP's against certain line-ups (as Holiday did too) because of the defensive liabilities but be able to give us a very nice 10-15 mins a game against other lineups. That's my short term hope for him and I'd be ecstatic to get that out of any 2nd round pick.

He is so slow in SL he only averaged 21 pts on 64% TS, 42% 3 pt while being a pesky defender. Bruh

Lets see him in preseason but obviously he crushed it in SL and kept up vs the most hyped rookie class in years.

G- League and practicing with the Rockets will determine whether Thornton will be ready for any meaningful minutes this year. He should play with Amen Thompson whenever possible. A shooting coach can help Thornton to refine his jumper.

don’t mess with Thorntons jumper. His percentages are nice. I remember when they tried to mess with Markel’s fultz jumper when he got to the NBa he was never the same.

His release is slow. He won’t be able to shoot over tall players.
