Not sure tick/tock means good or bad news? Why do you interpret as bad news?

Tick tock suggests the clock is ticking and that there is pressure for him to show something or he won't be around much longer.

So that might be nothing, or it might be bad news depending on how his season goes.

I thought it meant there's not much time left for him here.

Or it could mean for the Rockets to extend him, but who knows. Either way makes sense. I like Codman, but I wish there didn’t always have to be a mystery to solve.

My concern is that the Rockets likely don't want to go over 2nd apron next season. Unless KD signs for like 2/100 or less, it won't be easy without trading someone else.

I took that to be the 2 options, show whatever they need to see and get extended, don't show whatever they need to see and not be extended.

Plus how much and his medical reports. Tari is a tough one. I’m in the no need to extend him right now unless he is a bargain which to me is between 15 and 20m a year.

He's had one injury and he's on the path to recovery that guys that don't have issues for 5-6 years are on. Sure, he could have injury issues going forward, but he's not that much more of a risk based on public information than most players his age.

You and I really don’t know how much risk his medicals are indicating. Hopefully you are right.

No mystery. The Rockets have more talent than ever, more depth at certain positions and money, minutes and monetary respect are coming into play.

I like Tari, too. Apparently, he's not unhappy like Cam was, but he wants what his peers are getting.

The Rockets are going to have to make a tough choice. Thankfully, our entire roster is in high demand.

If he wants Jabari money, he should be traded. He has played 22 and 57 games the last 2 years. I don’t know what the medicals say about a future prognosis, but money is a big factor and the salary cap has to be managed very well to take advantage of this wonderful core of players we have for many years. Tari has to prove he can stay on the floor to get Jabari money (who I’m guessing he is considering his “peer”.)

Need Amen to talk Tari into taking less money for keeping the Terror Twins intact.

Or someone talk KD into giving us a huge discount.

A great video for Reed’s critics explaining his strengths and weaknesses and the high potential he has when not playing with minimal minutes and a short leash.

Dude he's gonna be a RFA. Unless someone throws the bank at him (unlikely since NAW just made full MLE) Rox can keep him.

How come he didnt show that potential in SL? He got lots of mins then and was on zero leash, dude was bombing (and missing) from the logo.

We have been over this 1k times the reason Reed didnt get minutes is because he played like crap for most of the season, if he produced whenever he got on the floor his percentages would be high instead he is shooting 33% from 3 and a TS of 46.5%. The times he got lots of mins were the times he played great so Ime kept him on the floor. You have it backwards Reed got mins when he played well, not that he always played well when he got mins. If he played better consistently his mins would have gone up as we needed a pg at the time esp when FVV got injured for like a month. Ime was pulling his hair out looking for a pg and Reed wasnt able to take the opportunity outside those couple good games. That video is kinda dumb basically "if we ignore all his bad games and only look at his good games Reed is a future star". You can do that with every player if you only look at Corey Brewer's 50 pt game he is the best scorer in NBA history.

Just compare him with Aaron Holiday they got the same pt how come Holiday shot 39% from 3? All these are just excuses its winning time now Reed should increase his play and be a capable backup pg he was literally the top 3 pick and we have the lowest expectations of him out of our lotto picks.

Odds are Durant is extended and the Rockets will be about Tari’s salary close to the 2nd apron next season. If Tari goes to RFA, a good chance a team offers at least a dollar more than what would put the Rockets in the 2nd apron. Also another team could arrange salaries for Tari to be decreasing such that the first year is way more than what would put the Rockets in the 2nd apron even if salary isn’t that much more than what the Rockets offer.

The Rockets using full MLE, Bird rights on Adams, early Bird on FVV, and extension on JSJ would not have been an issue if the cap was still expected to go up 10%. The Rockets $5M buffer for next season’s 2nd apron is gone. I think the Rockets want to remain flexible as they have a great team that may need tweaks. Picking how Tari’s salary is shaped is really important. I expect Durant and Tari’s extensions happen close together even if not announced, finalized close together.

It sounds good in theory but look at Quenten Grimes on the sixers. If a team makes an offer to screw the Rox the Rox can just counter screw that team by waiting till the end of FA to match Tari's deal. Then that team will have locked out their money for most of FA, Rox dont give a crap about FA they are capped out regardless. Thats why no team had sent an offer to Grimes cuz they know if Sixers matched they just wasted their capspace. Like imagine if the Rox made a 25M offer for Grimes instead of signing DFS, Akogie and Capela, we'd be waiting right now and all these guys are gone. Then Morey matches Grimes deal on the very last second before season starts now we just wasted our cap.

Rox have all the leverage regarding Tari thats why they are aggressive in trying to lowball him. If it doesnt work they can resign him in RFA next year.
