He needs to take note from small guys like Fred and TJ Mcconnel who use their bodies and shoulders and low center of gravity when driving. They also know how to use it to shield defenders at the rim.

At the end of the day players need to perform and they’re out on the court alone. Coaching isn’t going to perform for them, it only guides them there. He also worked with Cam on his form extended his range and efficiency.

Hard to pick any quality out of this particular squad, but here are my top three: 1) Arms 2) Chandler 3) M Brown.
Chandler had his good moments but melts in the clutch and also has many bad moments. Arms looks solid but struggles with the dribble. Brown is tall and athletic, must have serious off court issues as he should be on a pro squad.

Brown isn't a modern 5. His game is more old school, and I guess there are only so many roster spots available for a guy like that in the NBA. I like the idea of him as an end of the bench guy somewhere too because of his height and length and athleticism, but he never put it all together enough for much more than that.

Except FVV sucks at going to the rim. Sometimes technique cannot overcome athletic weaknesses. Like every professional sport athleticism, height, and strength have altered the sport. Sure there are anomalies that defeat the odds, but do you seriously believe Reed will be one of those anomalies?

So I’ve been at Crater lake with no cell or WiFi and was disappointed to finally look up yesterday’s box score seeing that Reed did not play. Anyone know if he is shut down for the rest of summer league?

he can’t stop turning the ball over. When you are a 5’11” point guard with turnover issues u aren’t going anywhere.

I never said Reed would be great. Didn’t say Fred was great either. McConnell isn’t great at getting into the paint but he’s good and tenacious. My point was those players are smaller and they implemented toughness in their game using their bodies to shield off defenders. CP3 is another example. While not the quickest He had a pretty good burst and low center of gravity. He shielded off players with his off arm and bumped players with his shoulders when driving. Dude was tough and flat out knew how to play. Reed may never be great at driving but could learn these nuances and implement them.

Our team culture leads to hard-nosed, competitive defense, but we're missing a key link. We can't field a team that can make FTs. It must be something systemic to be this bad. If something fundamental doesn't change, our championship aspirations will die at the FT line.
