ALL-Non-Ethnic: Steven Wright. "I put a sunroof in my ceiling. The people above me are furious." ALL-Insult: Dave Attell. "I think if your cousin is super-hot, you should be able to **** once. OOPS, I took it a little too far... sorry..." ALL-MEXICAN: Right now right now, George Lopez. Later later, I don't know. "Alo-HA, cabrón... amen to that-i never heard of him till after he died so obviously i never saw him, but i own all his albums and have seen all his videos. there will never be another comedian like him. ever seen ninja bachelor party? freakin' hilarious.
dave chappelle david cross margaret cho honorable mention: tenacious d (part standup/part band) eddie pepitone
alltime greatests 1) richard pryor 2 carrot top 3 rita rudner who is billy washington? that guy on welcome back kotter?
Bill Hicks Lenny Bruce Richard Pryor David Cross Mitch Hedberg's great but I can't put him up with those other guys. Dave Chappelle will make that list for me before long. Steven Wright's pretty funny. Some of the old Steve Martin records are good - particularly Let's Get Small. For me though, no one touches Bill Hicks. I saw him live four or five times before he died. His death (along with L Bruce's) was about the worst thing that ever happened to comedy. I would love to hear what he'd have to say about the last few years. If you haven't heard this guy, you're really missing out.
1.) Bill Hicks (and yes, Ninja Bachelor Party rules!) 2.) Richard Pryor 3.) George Carlin 4.) Chris Rock Hicks' general perspective on ALL aspects of life is intuitive and hilarious. he's the logical progression from Lenny Bruce (Bruce-->Carlin-->Hicks) IMO.
Okay, the guy Im naming isnt the "best" or anything like that, but I had a chance to see him and he is a riot. Incredible. Bob Sagat.
I heard that Sagat swears a lot in his actual standup, despite the clean image he had for all those years on Full House. Is it true? I laughed for ten minutes after that bathroom scene in Dumb and Dumberer. "THERE'S **** EVERYWHERE!"
Jonathan Winters, George Carlin, and Eddie Izzard. I saw Winters in Houston many years ago and got to shake his hand backstage. I don't know if I ever saw anyone else as funny in person, although Carlin would probably be a close second. Izzard is just incredibly intelligent, hilarious comedy. He makes history a riot, and that's not easy to do.
Chris Rock George Carlin Dave Chapelle Those rednecks from comedy central, i forgot the name of the show but they are really funny.
George Carlin And then, I can't really think of any other standout favorites. Lots of other really great ones, but Carlin is the only guy I can watch every single night, no matter how many times I've seen the set. Thank you, HBO Comedy.
No real opinion here. But, I did see the Steve Martin two-part documentary and, on the flip side, he was terribly unfunny for a good portion of his early stand-up career. I've never heard such silence in audiences. It was brutal. He took quite a long time to craft something that worked and it turned out to be applying physical mannerisms with his delivery was a good part of it. I still think his stand-up back then was more slightly amusing than lol funny...even when he eventually got it working and audiences melded with it. It was like watching a spectacle. Steve is/was determined and fearless. He just would not fail. It just turns out his real skill was bringing what he could do and learned in stand-up to comedic acting. I'm sure a lot of his audience was born from "The Jerk". That's when I came along as a fan. Steve earned the hell out of his career. I was astonished at what he went through and I had no idea really until I saw the doc. I'm not even sure how he got gigs in those early days. I guess because he showed up.
Look up this dude: Victor Patrascan (Romanian). His comedy is a mix of politics and cultural stereotypes all based on interaction with the crowd and it’s great.
