I was a Dillon hater prior to his Rocket's stint. While he was here he played his role and didn't do too much extra. I ended up liking him. Thank you Dillon. P.S. I will quickly go back to hating you once I watch you against us. Nothing personal though .
Love Dillon. He gets such a bad rep, amazing teammate from what we all saw. No hate against Dillon ever.
For those that watched the game, you know Dillon Brooks was more than a 3-D guy. He was a culture setter. A culture based on team first mindset, individual sacrifice, accountability, relentlessness, and professionalism. His defense effectiveness doesn't show up on stat sheet. His willingness to guard the other team's best player knowing that he is undersized or too slow but it's what the team need is what makes him a winner everywhere he's been. He will be sorely missed. Hopefully Tari is ready to fill those shoes.
Even though I always hated Brooks' game I have to admit that he was never overpaid. At the time, many complained about his salary but it never stopped up from signing anyone we wanted to sign and when the time came, he was valuable salary filler that helped us trade for a max salary star. I've been saying this for a while now but short contracts can never be bad contracts. They're just future filler. Same applies to FVV. Same applies to Jock even though he's pretty worthless as an actual player. Always need salaries for trades.
I thought Brooks was overpaid when he was signed and said so, but boy, was I wrong. I'll miss Marshall Dillon. Attitude! I'll miss them both.
Prime example of someone's rep being ruined by social media and echo chambers. Unjustly hated by nearly everyone that hasn't had him on their team or can't see past the narratives (I was one of these people). I hated the signing like everyone else and ended up with nothing but respect for him in the end. Tells you a lot about his character. I am sad to see him go, but it is the right move for us. His effort was always there, but he was beginning to slip up more and more as a perimeter defender. Cost us a few games with silly fouls at the end as well. Defensively, Tari and Amen will more than make up for his departure and the core will benefit greatly from the minutes freed up now.
I never believed in his fit on the team, but Dillon Brooks was an absolute professional and outplayed his contract his whole time here. He seemed to be an excellent teammate on and off the court. He turned himself into an excellent catch and shoot player here too which was a bonus. On-court antics aside, he deserves a pat on the back for his work here.
When it comes to Stone I hated the Brooks contract, and didn't love the Green contract. As of right this moment, it looks like Stone's spending choices were masterfully utilized. Not sure if the Brooks/Green contracts were intentionally set up this way, but regardless it worked out well.
I said from the start that Dillon’s contract was about right and had no problem with it. I didn’t think he was as good a player as he turned out to be. That being said I hope Jalen and Dillon absolutely suck if they are playing for the Suns, but would pull for them if they got traded to the East. If the Suns hang onto them and are able to find a decent center, I think the Suns are going to make it to the play-in which would suck for our picks. Unless, the Suns make more moves towards tanking, we should try to trade the Phoenix picks sooner, rather than later. I’m not saying throw them away on guys with no potential, but if something arises to get you good fitting players in their 20’s, then we should jump on it.
Heart of the team, but the team has now absorbed his style. Great role player. Coach Udoka is going to miss him greatly. (Jabari is a better defender overall and can be a better shooter) (Who’s going to defend the 5 now?)
Didn't like him at 1st but He grew on me I liked his crazy . . .i felt every team needs some of that Rocket River Good Luck Buddy
He came in and did the job he was brought in to do, and I appreciate that. He reigned in his crazy 1 on 1 possessions (which is what I worried about when we acquired him) and mostly played within his role, improving his 3pt shooting in the process. What I won't miss are the untimely techs and him always pushing the limits of what he can get away with from the refs. He also unfortunately seemed to have a reduced bball IQ in big moments at the end of games that I won't miss. But I wish him the best.
That’s the playoffs, he’s not a playoff player. His purpose is regular season floor raising. I absolutely hated him before he signed and my view didn’t change at all so I’m thrilled he’s gone, but he was better here than i expected (he was still bad but not dreadful).
I don't think Dort is crazy or Nembhard is crazy. They are merely intense. Dort gets away with stuff. I don't think he is as crazy as people think he is, he is just a good actor of villains and he gets off on boos and taunting people. Fred is low key taunting refs the same away.
It's actually crazy how hated he is, I bought into it too. Then when you see it up close he's actually a genuinely really fun person, wears his heart on his sleeve and just knows how to weaponise his reputation and play to frustrate the other team and embrace his villain role. I'd be very happy for him to return at any point in his career. In only 2 years he became one of my favourites on the team for sure. We'll genuinely miss his energy, let's just hope he rubbed off on the youngsters as much as he seemed to.
