Totally disagree about Dezenzo’s defensive value. Dezenzo has a plus arm and plus straightline foot speed. With time he could become a very good defensive corner outfielder, and playable 1B. He is as raw as Altuve in LF right now but the physical tools are more than enough.

I can see this. I just don't know how much value being good instead of acceptable in LF adds.

A lot. A ~105-110 wRC+ guy whose best position is DH is a AAAA player in the mold of Jon Singleton. A plus corner OF with the same offensive production is somebody like Mark Canha.

I don't see Dezenzo being agile enough to perfect the bend this part of the body away from the pitch while another part of the body (typically heavily armored) moves right into the pitch's path.

This was a fair take before the latest news. But as even Buck said in the post below, having him take BP with no imaging and no knowledge of his broken hand reeks of incompetence. It has nothing to do with fans taking 'personal affront' - it is about fans wanting to have some confidence that the team they love is capable of managing the health of their star players. At this point, I have no idea how you could have any confidence at all given their constantly changing timelines, reports, setbacks, etc.

It isn't lack of information, it is WRONG information and, even more importantly, WRONG decisions, that have real impact on the team's performance.

There is a non-zero chance that Yordan's hand was 90+% healed when he took his last BP, which refractured the injured hand. The hand is now 60% or some such healed. We don't know for sure, either way.

Weren’t you projecting Dezenzo as a starter with Paredes on the bench 2 years from now before the season started? Lmao

I'd bless the rains down in Africa if we could get a 2nd baseman that could hit.

The person who made online threats against Houston Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. and his family last month was identified as an overseas sports bettor, a Houston Police Department spokesperson said Monday.

No charges have been filed in the investigation, said the spokesperson, who declined to identify the suspect or where overseas he was located.

Investigators from HPD’s Major Offenders Division spoke with the suspect, who said he had lost money betting on the Astros’ game and was “frustrated and inebriated” when he made threats toward McCullers over social media, the HPD spokesperson said.

The suspect was apologetic and asked investigators to relay an apology to McCullers and his family, the spokesperson said. The investigation is still open because no charges have been filed but “at this point it seems to have reached a conclusion,” the spokesperson said.

The Astros did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The point is I dont know how good he will become (Neither do you) however I've been pleased for the most part with Dezenzo's play as a rookie. Did you think Teoscar was going to be an all star level player before he was traded? Because he wasn't as good as Dezenzo's been when he was 1st called up. If you thought Teoscar was going to be this good after he was 1st brought up, then please by all means give me the Wednesday night mega millions winning lotto numbers. The odds are/were about the same.

Wow, I've found that the peak years of an athlete are between ages 27-32.

I thought Teoscar was going to be good but I expected JD Martinez to be great... that being said, I believed in Francis Martes.
