The Texans are in a good place for round 2. Nine picks in front of Houston. Buffalo will draft a WR. Patriots will go offense WR or OT, Washington will go OT with one of their picks. Corners available are Mckinstry, Rakestraw, Sainristill, Cooper, Lassiter DT available Newton, Fiske, Hall All the linebackers are still available. No need to trade up.
They had a chance at multiple offensive weapons to put around Cousins and they drafted an older QB prospect with injury concerns. Why even pay Cousins?
I don't know what it would take to trade up so I cant' say I would do it, but I'd like to get Dejean. I also want one of those running backs, linebackers, a DT and maybe Ladd. So yeah, hard to say what the right thing to do is.
Im good with Dejean, Newton, Kool Aid, Rakestraw, Fiske, Lassiter, Jenkins, Smith, one of the top 3 LBs. At least two of those will be sitting there at 42. The post I quoted said there were a lot of good players sitting, so we have to trade up. I’d hold on to assets if there are so many good players left and let the board fall to me. Use those assets to trade up from 59 if one of those I listed falls.
Right? Extra 4, 5 and 6 picks...what does one of each in a package get you on yall's fancyass draft point value calculator?
I really like Penix, but I agree…why give that contract to cousins and immediately use the next pick on a QB?
First round couldn’t have gone much better for Texans. Mulitple dt’s, cbs, and wrs still available. Can’t wait for tomorrow.
Not a clue about any off field stuff. It is indeed weird (happens with some players every year) that stuff suddenly happens to come out right before the draft. I do believe that the couple of months leading up to the draft is colloquially called the "Silly Season" for a reason.
What I heard is that they don't feel like they will be in position in the draft the next two years to draft a QB. Falcons want to do it now with a 37 year old QB sort of like what they Packers did with Rodgers and Love. I agree too, right after Cousins signed his big contract and the guy they drafted is 24 and has had several injuries.
I agree. Never heard anything negative about the kid and then something like that comes out. Sabotage
Mind you, Penix is 24. If he sits behind cousins for two seasons, he already 26. In comparison CJ is 22 today.
Lots of great players available, but 2 guys standout we should consider moving up for Cooper Dejean and Johnny Newton. Both of those guys should have been Rd 1 guys to me, having them slip and also be areas of need make sense to see the cost of moving up. I also really love Payton Wilson, just don't know if his physical checked out. After those 3, guys like Sainristil, E. Cooper, Fiske, Hall, Jenkins, Melton, Bishop would be nice. P.S. Really liked Ricky Pearsall.
