not a blow like this one but we lost to memphis in the aac championship game that was a sweet 16 team this team has a similar floor to that one
Put this game on the list of 4 or 5 games in the last few years where our team just implodes. We won the previous 3 games before this beatdown by a combined total of almost 70 points. Against good teams, all quad 1 wins. No explanation why we performed the way we did today.. In sports these type of games just happen. I know we are beat up, injured, without players but today we got outdefended, outworked, outhustled, outcoached., and in general whipped in just about every way imaginable. We just won 11 games in a row before this. Fortunately the slate is wiped clean and we begin the tourney that really matters next week. We are still 30-4 and should begin the tourney as the #1 seed in the South region which is what we wanted anyway. We got about a week to figure it out, get Jwan as healthy as possible, others as well, and come up with a gameplan to take us as deep in the tourney as possible. No time to cry over spilled milk. Learn from it, tip your hat to ISU, and go back to dominating the way we normally do.
Houston got their ass kicked. I don't mind it to be honest. They looked tired and were outmanned in what was in every way an Iowa State home game. Get healthy and learn from it. Better to get something like that out of the way now than during the tourney. Iowa State was way better today!
Excellent post, sums it up very well. I haven't seen a Cougar team take a beat down like this in a long time. Kind of reminded of the first Kansas game but worse.
We're effectively down to a 7 man roster playing in a game that has literally no upside for us. Yesterday was a big ass nothing burger. Next.
Nothing has changed. I didn’t expect them to win with a depleted roster. The fact that they got to the finals is a testament to the program. onto what matters most. The ncaa tourney. get to the 2nd weekend in Dallas and those two games will be cougar nation
Last year, Sasser was injured in the conference tournament. This year it’s Roberts. Has any team ever turned down the conference tournament to rest and focus on the NCAA tournament ? I feel like Kansas basically did that this year.
In the presser Sampson looked as depressed as I have ever seen him. If they had lost by a single point would he or we feel any better? Frankly, I am not sure. Probably.
