Well, I suppose there is some small amount of solace in the Cardinals not really getting much for Hopkins as well (assuming predicted day 2 pick is correct). It would be embarrassing if the Cardinals got more for him than the Texans did 3 years later. Well, MORE embarrassing, I suppose. Original trade was pretty objectively embarrassing regardless of what ARI does or doesn't do.
I’d give them a 7th for Dhop and a 5th? Or give them a 7th if they pay half. Think it solves a lot of problems for us: - Weak WR room, we know he is good at making even terrible QBs look good. - shows we are done with old regime, great look to other FA’s - it’s now a short term deal, which we like - get back another pick that we lost when we traded him.
Arizona looks like they are going full tank mode. I wonder if they will look at Caleb if they land the #1 pick next year
No idea really. But barring a Kyler meltdown or falling out, I’d probably say a trade down is more likely. He’ll be the 3rd highest paid QB come 2024 with a $50M+ cap hit.
If Arizona gets 1-1 next year, they will definitely pick Caleb...Kyler be damned. He'll start another year then go into purgatory until he demands a trade.
I mean, I guess I could see it, but he makes too much money, his play is declining and he's already resorting to PED's because his ability is slipping. The Texans probably could manage the cap space to make a deal for him, but I'm not sure it would be a smart move at this point. Maybe wait and see if he's cut and offer him a small deal.
