The stadiums are fully equipped with ACs..... but yeah you have heat during the day if you are outside on the practice grounds.
are mex and pol essentially tied right now as it stands? would be same points and goal differential. i dont know the different stages of tie breakers.
The Saudi goal didn't matter, apparently. Mexico would've won the tie-break against Poland with a goal based on goals scored.
? Saudi goal is what prevent Mexico from advancing. Saudi were spoilers. If Saudi didn't score. The tie breaker wouldn't have been goal differential since Poland and Mexico were tied at 0 apiece, it would have been something else. Rough to b eliminated bc of 1 goal.
I don't see why they don't just have a penalty shoot off or match instead of fairplay. Fly them to a stadium, sell some tickets, and let's go. Fairplay tiebreaker is lame when they have plenty of time between now and the knockout. Make them suffer.
1 win 1 draw 1 loss a perfectly average world cup run for the most average of mexico teams ever Up to the saudi goal mexico and poland were tied in everything but the tie breaker would have been for poland because of less yellow cards. first time mexico fails to reach the next stage since 90. it be like that sometimes.
FIFA had another odd tiebreaker in received yellow cards. Poland leading with 5 yellows to 8 Mexican yellows. The Fairplay tiebreaker as well.
Since Mexico is co hosting the next world cup, so they are auto qualified. So essentially no competitive matched for years other than wack ass gold cup games in the states or whatever other micky mouse tournament concacaf comes up with. this team is in desperate need of new ideas, players, coaches. Bielsa is the dream candidate but i'm not sure he would take it. from what i remember he didnt have all that great of a time when he was coaching in the local league. guess im a brazil fan now vai corinthians!
Before the Saudi goal, Poland and Mexico were tied on goal differential. The tie breaker would be goals scored, which they were tied on, so it goes to fair play which Mexico had more cards and would lose. After the Saudi goal, it broke the goal differential so Poland is up. Had Mexico scored a 3rd goal, it's an even goal differential but now Mexico has more goals scored than Poland and would advance instead. Saudi scoring their goal didn't affect the standings. Only a 3rd Mexico goal would. Some interesting tie breaker scenarios that ultimately didn't matter.
I think we're going to see A LOT of friendlies played between Mexico, US, and Canada over the next few years. The Gold Cup will have to be played by their A teams as well just to get them competitive matches. I'm hoping, at least for the USMNT, for a Copa invite if they don't follow through with a combined tournament again.
And the USA gets through, the young generation embracing the sport is great for soccer in this country. DD
It would really be in the best interest of all 3 to somehow get into Copa America. The gold cup is simply not competitive enough to make up for the adversities you face in qualifying.
