Don't think this is true. You don't want to be the guy after the guy and the next GM is going to be the guy after 2 guys who won a chip. After all the crap Click got, can you imagine what the next guy will get if he does not continue with this dominance? All Gm's are "talented" until they are not.
So who will take a one year deal? Is there away to pry Stearns free? Interm GM Jeff Bagwell/Reggie Jackson? Then Stearns.
Not much but I found it weird the way CBSSports analyst and former Marlins President David Sampson was praising the Astros and the Organization during our WS games. It was almost like he was applying for a front office position. I'm guessing people in the know had seen the writing on the wall for some time.
Ridiculous take. Even if you limit yourself to baseball people finding an excellent general manager is not insurmountable and if you go outside of baseball the choices are innumerable. Nobody worth his salt gives a damn who came before him and any one who does is not worth having.
Yea cause if Dusty has a say in it, pretty obvious that analytics will take a step back, at least to some point Would love to see Sig come back
My prediction, it will be GM by committee for one year until Stearns is no longer under contract; or Crane absolutely shocks the world and brings back Luhnow right now.
I trust Crane but this is **** timing. GM meetings already over and a lot of FO talent is already where they want to be. Hopefully Crane had his ducks in a row and will move quickly with a good internal promotion or somebody else that can hit the ground running. Losing Putila and Ocampo doesn’t make me think that’s the case but Crane has earned benefit of the doubt.
Every GM's dream is a talented team with resources and an owner that truly wants to win. This is one of the few MLB GM jobs that fit that criteria. Every wanna be GM is on the phone right now.
This would be a much bigger problem if we had a lot of holes to fill. Reality is, we don't. We need to figure out the Verlander issue first, and that is a Crane deal anyway
Big difference between JJ and Crane, JJ wants to get all the credit, Crane just seems to want things done the way he thinks they should be done. Crane seems to let the experts do the heavy lifting, while JJ wants to be involved in everything as well as get all the credit. With that said, it seems JJ is taking on a more Crane approach.
Outside the box. I liked Dierker, who came up through the organization as a player and then broadcaster before becoming a successful Manager. Any chance we could see Blummer as at least an interim GM for a year and see how it goes?
