Is it a billion over 5 seasons or the 1st year with set construction upfront? I think the 2 eps were alright. They've already shown a lot of favorite characters and that khazad dum shot shows how sad it became in the original. Very slow pace with a lot of exposition though. Yeah, neckbeard incel rage over black actors was overblown. You could even claim the minority elves all migrated together to middle earth. If anything, it's still a Euroethnic Medieval Fantasy...
Tolkien wrote it in a different time when his core audience was mainly white. No one really knows if his racial choices were intentional to the plot, but these neckbeards want you to believe it so because they grew up with the all white characters. Shakespeare was fine with boys dressing up as women or actors dressing up in blackface for characters of African descent. All that purity goes into the shitter when you can grab audiences. Diverse casting goes beyond what the audience wants and more about roles for minority actors who, up until 4-5 years ago, were mostly left out for "lack of experience", "too unqualified", or "not a good fit for the role." Maybe you don't like a Mexican Namor, but does it really cut you to see one? Oh, but this change is too political! It's like football and that boy kneelin...Just shut up and play! There goes the neighborhood in Middle Earth. Time to pack up Cleetus!
Are there any Salvadorians in this show? I need to know If I can identify with any of the characters before watching....
I'm not really feeling sucked into the story here so far after 2 episodes, but was also never a big LOR guy in general.
It’s quite the visual spectacle but I am not really feeling too attached to any of the characters yet.
I finished episode one , when the enterprise or spock's coffin landed on middle earth will watch episode 2, but i'm clearly rooting for SAURON @Xerobull @Ziggy
Beautiful but count me among the crowd that isn't in love with it. None of the characters have grabbed me and I hate the hobbits already.
I watched episode one. The aesthetic was nice but none of the characters really captured me. I'll keep watching though.
Yea, I know. I absolutely couldn't stand the Hobbits in the original trilogy (among other things). I was surprised that I enjoyed the Hobbit series lol.
