Maybe if acting like you're solving a problem is just as good as solving a problem. Because current legislation, even if we could pass it, wouldn't have stopped any of the most prominent mass shootings I'm aware of since Sandy Hook (the ones I looked at last night). Dems can White Knight it and act like they are doing something but even if current legislation is passed tomorrow we are all going to be sitting here doing the same thing over and over again for the next 3 months until we die. To actually solve the problem calls for living in a relatively gun free society, list most of the rest of the OECD... that's an extreme measures, few, if any, Democrats are on board with that.
This country was founded on theft, murder, human trafficking, rape, destruction and lies. The foundation of this country is diabolically evil so henceforth evil will continue. During the Constitutional Convention, the 2A was crafted as a "bribe" to slave owners, such as Patrick Henry and George Mason, who expressed concern to James Madison that the government wouldn't protect them against slave revolts. So here we are today where guns in America are prolific (120.5 guns per 100 citizens). This will not go away regardless of how many laws are enacted. I just don't see these types of acts slowing down, especially when people have easy access to information that will help them carry out additional terrorist attacks. Stay alert. Firearm on the side (if you're able).
Same with efficient and much cheaper healthcare systems with much better health outcomes. It’s really a damn mystery how these socialist countries with gun control have less murders, no mass shootings and a much healthier populace.
If every gun is registered like a car, then the black market is a lot harder to make work for criminals as at some point the gun owner would have to sell the gun without transferring the title to that gun. You then know who broke the law in terms of illegally transferring a gun, and thus there's a culpability factor now that there wasn't before. No you can't stop someone from buying a gun if they are determined. But you can make it a lot harder and thus safe lives.
you are like the definition of intellectually dishonest. Change is gradual, not all at once. Just say your a republican and move on.
That's just it... everyone is b****ing abt guns and not having access... So again let them get their guns.... but hard to do anything without ammo.... win win... The minute you start talking control, the minute people stop listening.. Like you stated.. baby steps... T_Man
There are no solutions that will end all mass shootings. There are a number of solutions that will reduce the number of mass shootings. Should we not enact those because there will still be SOME shootings? Is your rationale that if we can't stop 100% percent of the mass shootings we shouldn't reduce the percentage at all?
Research shows that every place that has banned assault weapons has seen a drop in mass shootings - including in the US. The change is, unsurprisingly, gradual and the ban was most effective in the years just before it expired - and then got worse again after expiration. Shockingly, making guns less available made ... guns less available. Do you support that? Dems propose a lot of things to cut shootings - they've settled for universal background checks for now because it's the only thing with a remote chance of even passing given that it has 90% support from the public. If they could accomplish more, they would - and they've tried quite often.
And before anyone brings up Chicago, let's no forget that the cities is just a few miles from Indiana where you can buy a gun practically at a lemonade stand.
Curious how you know this and why you are so confident in stating this belief. According to the FBI, there were 345 "mass shooter incidents" in the United States between 2000-2020, resulting in more than 1,024 deaths and 1,828 injuries. https://www.fbi.gov/file-repository/active-shooter-incidents-in-the-us-2020-070121.pdf/view In the last year and a half there has been over 20 shootings involving 6 or more deaths. Did you research and study each of these 365+ incidents? Go over the mental and criminal background of each of these shooters?
This is what you have continually argued. That the legislation proposed by gun control advocates and from democrats "wont do anything." Maybe comprehensive background checks/mag restriction/assault rifle restrictions will help the problem or maybe it'll have minimal effects. Assault rifle restrictions and other gun control legislation had a huge effect on mass shooting in Australia, while in other countries such as Sweden high gun ownership doesn't result in high occurrences of mass shootings. So clearly the issue is complicated. But I'm curious why you are so certain and adamant that gun control legislation will be futile and useless.
The only legislation currently being proposed involves background checks. I went and looked at a number of the most high profile shootings since Sandy Hook including Sandy Hook. None of the perpetrators would have been stopped from acquiring their guns because of a background check, they either passed a background check, took guns from family members or would have passed a background check had one been performed. If you’d like, you can go investigate every mass shooting in the history of the country and report back about how many a background check would have foiled, but even then, the perpetrator may have acquired a weapon circumventing a background check. The perpetrators of these more infamous shootings, by and large, have no criminal record. The only way the scourge of mass shooting ends is if we rid ourselves of guns. How many Democrats support the repeal of the 2nd amendment and some sort of program that cleans up the 450 million guns swishing about the country? Not many I’ve heard of but that’s what it’s going to take. Some weak half measures may marginally help and that would be nice, but they won’t meaningfully fight this scourge.
Eventually at some point something is going to happen to where several hundred people die or even over a thousand. With guns bombs etc. It may be 5 years from now or 20+ more but something will come down the line that will eventually make not all but enough people want to do something about this.
