Sure, it's not over, but realistically it's going to be Banchero, Smith, or Chet. Whichever of the 3 drop are the pick.
Orlando isn’t passing up on Chet. Makes no sense to do so and the fact that Suggs and Chet already have a relationship further solidifies it
This is always the risk with that tweener forward archetype. Beasley, Toppin, it's really a whole list of them. On paper you think he's too big for guards to guard him and too fast for bigs to guard him and he'll fill it up...but it doesn't always work like that. Thankfully, it's been some time since the last tweener forward taken in the top 5 worked out so maybe the NBA is overdue for this archetype to be successful again.
They aren't a contender every year... Last year they were horrible. At anyrate all those names I list and Banchero provided Coach K with the most successful Duke season since their national championship run in like 2015.
@Nook OKC has many more assets to trade up to #1. There’s no way for the Rockets to trade up for #1 unless Orlando wants Paolo and OKC wants Jabari; in which case, why trade up?
Y’all will regret not taking Jalen Duran, the number 1 recruit in the country, insane hops, a defensive beast and a rebounding nightmare and can run the floor. Was a part of the penny hardaway experience, Larry Brown LOVES the kid. Holmegren reminds me of Marvin Bagley 3, no way Chet comes in blocking 3 shots a game.
Jabari is the only big who plays defense with an nba body going top 5... i would move up if the price is reasonable.
We’re getting a great prospect either way. Don’t think there is much separation from the top 3 prospects.
Defensive abomination is being kind. But I heard its easy to fix defense, because Jalen is Filipino don't you know????
nbadraft.net refuse to take Ivey outta there too 3 haha. like, seriously… WTF is a “low waist build”!? LOL. The f*ck these dudes be talking about!?
Can't see Chet falling pass #2 so you have to hope magic want Paolo because OKC seems like a Smart franchise and will take Chet or Jabari. You pretty much have to hope what nook brought up becomes a reality where magic trade back.
If I'm Stone I stop worrying about the 3rd pick. Whether it is Chet, Jabari or Banchero, that guy at 3 will be BPA. Thats done, like the Cavs last year. Rsther than that, its time to use the 17th, Wood and EG to trade up. Lots of teams want to be better immediately starting with Portland. Trade for Portland's pick, get another talent, make the team worse to tank for next year. Makes all the sense in the world.
Picking a top 3 pick based on relationships is how bad teams stay bad. It shouldn't matter if Chet is Suggs' long lost brother. It has no bearing on who to pick in the draft.
Not really. Not in this context where they’re reaching a lower level player just bc of a relationship. It’s not even based on the relationship it just further helps. They need a big like him anyway. So yeah it still is a factor and has bearing
