Happy birthday! @ROXRAN and happy draft day to all! Whatever the pick is, a lot of people would be mad, because we have different point of view, its amazing that in draft day, nobody knows who is going to be the 1st overall pick, when in last years everybody knew already who was going to be the 1st overall pick. if the texans select, an OL, I will understand, but will be a bit disapointed, since I want some iconic player, that can be the face of the franchise, and can sell jerseys, and that would be a defensive player with the 3 and 13, or maybe a WR with 13.
Honestly, I’m not certain which way the Texans are going at #3 (OL, DE, DB). Usually that’s a good thing for any trade prospects if the other teams in the league are uncertain as well though that would be more true if this was a typical early QB draft
I think we need to be able to do 2 things next year to be competitive in this division. We MUST be able to stop the run in a division with Henry and Taylor. And we MUST be able to run the ball to keep our defense off the field. This draft is imperative for us to do those 2 things. However Lovie schemes to make those 2 things happen is critical and the players he selects should reflect those 2 things.
If at the end of the day today, they end up with Ekwonu and Stingley, that's huge. The Chronicle's last mock suggested a similar trade and motivation where they traded with Seattle at 9 and gave up a 3rd and a 6th. I'd be good with that, honestly. There are two top tier tackles and two top tier corners, and if you have to sacrifice a late Day 2 pick to get guys from both of those groups, it's worth it.
If we could come out of RD1 with Icky and Jameson that would be a huge win for our offense. I've never been a fan of taking CBs early, especially at #3 and in a Cover 2 defense. Film, floor and ceiling make Icky likely the safest pick at #3. However, I wouldn't be surprised if we trade back up for Jameson, just because I believe he's most coveted WR.
Ickey and Stingley would be an exceptional first round haul. I’m all for it. Trade up to 6-8 range and get it done.
I wouldn't mind this either, but I think it's less likely. If they really want a receiver at 13, there's four guys who will likely go in the top half of the first round, and 1-2 of those guys are bound to be there at 13. If feels like they were trading up into the top 10, it's going to be for a defensive player. I wouldn't rule out Hamilton either.
