I was wrong about Mills, at least how he looked early. Said there is no way he could be a franchise QB. Of course, Watson look unbelievable in his first 7 games (6 as a starter). Mills looked a Giraffe in headlights. After he replaced Taylor the second time, he looked like a different QB. You have to remember is lack of starts in College. The right coaching seems to have helped in a short period of time. That's why having Pep Hamilton as OC is so important. Mills seems to respond to him coaching him up.
I'd slow down before busting out the Manning comparisons, I'd argue he's the 2nd best QB of all time (with a winning record against #1 in the playoffs). Though Mills improving dramatically as the season progressed is no surprise to me, just getting into Stanford, even for athletics, means he's more intelligent than anyone here on CF*. *Unless you got into Rice.
Texans' Davis Mills would be first QB drafted in 2022 class, says Charles Davis "I don't have a single quarterback that I'd spend a first-round draft pick on in this year's draft. But that doesn't mean they're not good players," Davis told The Zach Gelb Show on Tuesday. "Just don't have them all as highly rated as the guys last year. Thus, would I go into the first round and get one? Well, all things being equal, answer's no for me... If Davis Mills of the Houston Texans stayed in school at Stanford, he'd be the unquestioned No. 1 QB in this draft."
I’m still cautiously optimistic that Caserio stole a future franchise QB. It’s not likely but there’s a lot of meat on that bone imo
I think he will be a good QB when you consider the talent he had around him last season he found a way to be more competitive than anyone thought he finds ways to win in the NFL you can't teach that he has that work ethic that drive that not many QB's have with our lack of any real talent the Texans won't win more than 6 games next season {thats if we are lucky} but with a few more weapons and a better offensive line we will be in more games.
I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t know much about Mills when we drafted him other than he had potential and all that. don’t know if you caught Sean Salisbury this morning but he was talk about how he saw Mills in his camp as a freshman in high school even though the camp was for older kids and he out played pretty much all of them at that age. And how high he was on his raw talent. Not saying that is gonna make him great but we have to remember he didn’t play much in college and just starting out in NFL. Just like anyone else he deserves a chance and we have to just protect him and see if he can do anything or take another step forward or we move on. Thought the talk on radio today was interesting since I didn’t know much before.
My take... #1 - Burrow #2 - Mahomes #3 - Allen #4 - Wilson #5 - Herbert #6 - Watson #7 - Carr #8 - Jackson #9 - Ryan #10 - Tannehill #11 - Jones #12 - Mills #13 - 20 is a toss up with new players or coaches (except Wilson)
