Quite a few people really have a strong dislike for umm... mobile coaches.

So much for McCown being the "coach in-waiting". LOL. Sounds like Josh wanted to skip steps and his boy Easterby was trying to make it happen...it didn't. If he is not hired by the coach in Jacksonville, then I don't think McCown wants to coach....unless it is as an HC or maybe OC.

Based on what, Aaron? HIs time as an assistant head coach for a high school football team? I don't understand where this sentiment about a "bright coaching future" comes from. You know what helps you grow as a coach and show potential as a possible future head coach? Actual professional coaching experience of any kind. McCown doesn't have any, and he has no business being a head coach until he does.

Most people in the league think he'll be a head coach some day, including former Pro Bowlers, executives and other head coaches.

This isn't something only the Texans believe, based off of rumblings people keep reporting. Also, just because Texans fans are pissed the franchise is a dumpster fire and because we almost hired him, doesn't make these reports inaccurate. He is highly regarded by people within the league, as a person, and probably as a future coach.

In the future, could the man be a good head coach? Sure, I'm not ruling it out. But I'm sick of people with the franchise and reporters covering the franchise trying to spin the man as this great head coach candidate. If he was, then the Texans wouldn't have been the only franchise in the league to have interviewed him for a head coaching position. And if you're McCown, maybe go out and get some actual, tangible experience if you want franchises other than the worst-run organization in the entire sport to take you serious as a head coaching candidate.

I don't disagree with you at all.

My point is just that if the decision makers want to put their jobs on the line with him, let them.

Why doesn't Josh McCown try being even an offensive assistant before jumping into being a head coach? Dude has never coached in his life, how anyone could even think of interviewing him for a head coaching spot is absolutely nuts.

McCown thinks he can just play the waiting game and fast track to HC, probably once Lovie Smith is gone from Houston. Easterby and Cal have made a promise to him that he'll be the next HC of the team, barring any unforeseen circumstances. If you are Josh, why would you try to get experience when you have already been promised the head coaching gig? Why not just enjoy retirement and spend time with family. It's a sweet deal.
